  • Christmas Yes!

It's that time of year where we indulge and the sisters are finding ways to lean into 'yes' this week.

Lynne is following Timothé Chalamet's movements through Nashville, Kathy is watching Red One alone and Nancy learns the difference between chop suey and chow mein noodles.

On a serious note the girls acknowledge this time of year isn't always the happiest time and talk about some coping mechanisms and how to find purpose from the pain.
    https://www.webmd.com/depression/features/25-ways-find-joy-balance-during-holidays

Then the fishes share their favorite sweet recipes of the season, but not the peanut brittle.  That's a secret family recipe you've got to be on the inside for.

    Great Grandma K's Caramels
    1 3⁄4 C CornSyrup
    2 C Sugar
    1 C Butter
    1 C Rich Cream
    1 C Rich Cream
    1 tsp. Vanilla
    Chopped Nuts

Put syrup, sugar, butter, and 1 C cream over fire. Stir and cook vigorously until mixture boils briskly, then stir I slowly (that cooking may not stop) the second cup of cream. Let boil stirring often until when tested in cold H2O a firm ball may be formed. Then stir in 1 tsp of vanilla and a cup or more of nuts. Then pour in buttered tins and when stiM enough cut into squares.

  • Christmas Trends and Traditions

The sisters discuss Christmas Trends and Traditions. What’s old and what’s new for the Holiday season in 2024.  Kathy loves that tinsel and velvet are coming back into fashion, and is enamored with her Christmas tree watering funnel. The girls rehash the age-old fake vs. real tree debate. Nancy doesn’t know how an advent calendar works, Kathy gives Rudolph plastic surgery and Lynne hates wrapping presents.

Now that Thanksgiving is behind us and we’re officially in December the sisters turn their sites towards Christmas. First up, MOVIES! What are our holiday must-watches? Who are the Clarks and Cousin Eddies in your life? What about that classic action film with Bruce Willis, is that a CHRISTMAS movie?

Nancy talks French Macaroons, Lynne has an elegant fix for odor issues and Kathy can’t live without her dermaplaner.

  • Thanksgiving Turkeys, Traditions and Chickens?

It’s the Five Li’l Fishes as the sisters parents are in California with Nancy for the Thanksgiving holiday. Everything is on the table this week, strawberry pretzel jello salads, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole…all the casseroles. We discuss how to best accommodate your vegan guests and talk a little bit about the history of the holiday and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Did you know the older Thanksgiving Day Parade in the country is Gimbel’s first held in Philadelphia in 1920? It’s now known as the 6ABC Dunkin’ Donuts Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The sisters discuss the trends for this year, going vegan, going stress-free and going sober.

  • House Rules for House Guests

What’s up fishes! Today we’re discussing the house guests that are arriving from across the city, state or country to share a big roast turkey, or Tofurkey or whatever it is that graces your table. We think it’s a good idea to set some ground rules so the dinner table doesn’t turn into a Crossfire style shouting match. Remember what your grandma told you. Don’t discuss politics or religion. We also discuss things to do that AREN’T centered around food or a meal.

How to Deal With Difficult Family Members

We kick things off talking about Gladiator II, The new Yellowstone show on Paramount Plus, and subscription fatigue. Can we just bring the bundle back already?
