The sisters invite Lynne’s son Jack and Kathy’s son Trevor on to have a little fun explorer the generation gap between Gen X and Gen Z. The lingo, trends, how technology affects their lives.
They briefly discuss Ina Garten’s new book, Kourtney Kardashians and Travis Barker’s promiscuous skeletons Anna Sorokin’s ejection from Dancing With the Stars and P. Diddy and whether today’s college students can read.

It’s officially October and the sisters are excited to get into the swing of everything Halloween. Lynne shares secrets on how to prepare your carved pumpkins so that they look fresh and stay uneaten all month, even in the heat of the south. Nancy shares a fun way to present Halloween cocktails…bloody dipped, and Kathy shares the story of the eleven-year teepee feud with she and her neighbors are engaged in. Word is this year there may be a partial cease-fire. Time will tell.

We like chili this time of year as the weather starts to turn cold. But Lynne’s Egg Roll in a Bowl sounded more more interesting and fun to share this week.
Here’s one option, but a quick google search will turn up many variations.
Egg Roll in A Bowl.
Ingredients:
1 Lb Ground Turkey (or sausage)
1 bag dry coleslaw mix (shredded cabbage and carrots)
5 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/2 Cup low sodium soy sauce
Slice green onion
Edamame (optional)
Bean Sprouts (optional)
Instructions
In a large, deep skillet, brown ground turkey. Meanwhile, in a small bowl combine garlic, ginger, and soy sauce and set aside.
Once the turkey is cooked through, add dry coleslaw mix, edamame and bean sprouts to skillet and stir to combine.
Pour soy sauce mixture into skillet and stir, continuing to cook over medium heat until cabbage is slightly wilted, but still crunchy.
Serve as-is in bowls for a low carb option, or over steamed rice.

Blood Rimmed Cocktail glass
1/4 Cup Karo Syrup
Red Food coloring
Heat Karo syrup on stovetop or in microwave. Add red food coloring and stir to combine. Dip glass rim and let a little drip down the side as a cools. Add ice and your favorite cocktail.

The sisters discuss a little bit of everything this week from what they’re watching (Emily in Paris, Beef, Hacks, Shogun, Inventing Anna) to Justin Timberlake and going on Dancing With the Stars. Nancy’s oldest enlists her help to jump into the HoCo proposal game for the first time, and we’re SO TIRED of tipping culture.

Six months of weekly Fishes podcasts! This is episode twenty-six. A full classic television season’s worth of episodes. Thanks to all who have been with us so far, please keep listening and sharing with friends.
We’ve also made it to September, the heat has finally broken and we can turn the AC off at night. There’s a whiff off fall in the air, we have a taste for pumpkin spice and spend some time discussing what we love about Autumn and dig even deeper about some physiological reasons why.
We reminisce about our yearly family trips to Tanner’s Apple Orchard in Central Illinois. The apple cider cinnamon donuts and pickup football games with Dad. Nancy shares a story of how she and Tim (unintentionally) stole a bag of apples due to their toddler addled brains when Riley was little at an orchard in Indiana.
Our resident green-thumb Kathy gets excited about planting Mums. For dinner, we share a Kuntz family staple recipe Wild Rice Soup.
As Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph say on SNL’s The Bronx Beat “It’s sweatah weathah!” So let’s jump in!

What’s For Dinner:
Donna’s Chicken Cutlets
12 thin sliced boneless chicken breasts (scaloppine)
3-4 eggs
Splash of milk
Flour
Progresso Italian bread crumbs
Extra virgin olive oil
Roll out parchment or wax paper and place 4 breasts on it. Salt and pepper each side. Add another piece of paper on top. Pound out the breasts with a mallet. Fold up the sheet with the four cutlets and place in the refrigerator.
Repeat until all the breasts are pounded.
Pre heat oven to 350 degrees.
Prepare a flat baking sheet with aluminum foil.
Set up three bowls on the counter.
Ist bowl has flour. 2nd bowl has 3-4 eggs whisked with a splash of milk. 3rd bowl has Italian bread crumbs.
Start by coating each breast in flour, then the egg mixture and lastly bread crumbs. Continue until all are coated.
Heat about 1/4 - 1/3 cup of extra virgin olive oil in a large fry pan on the stove (cast iron or enameled preferred over a non stick pan).
When a drop of water sizzles off the oil, the oil is hot enough. Turn heat to medium high.

Place sautéed breasts on the flat baking sheet.
Add extra oil if needed and repeat with remaining cutlets.
When all the chicken cutlets are sautéed, place the baking sheet in the oven and cook for about 20 minutes or til insides of cutlets are no longer pink.
