“A contrarian isn’t one who always objects — that’s a conformist of a different sort. A contrarian reasons independently, from the ground up, and resists pressure to conform.”

A senior Citibank analyst has made a grandiose prediction for Bitcoin in a recent note to institutional clients—even drawing comparisons with the gold market of the 1970s.
This kind of technical analysis is of little value. There is no edge in guessing targets so far in time with TA. All we know is that price is likely to continue going up, and a lot. But readers loves this. What matters here is Citi's clients being exposed to the bitcoin moon scenario.

Bitcoin had yet another impressive week, starting at $13,712 and finishing up the week at $15,486.
The GrayScale Bitcoin Trust is outperforming gold exchange-traded funds, a trend perhaps driven by institutional investors like family offices, according to a report by JPMorgan analysts that CoinDesk obtained.
“If everyone’s got a digital wallet and CBDCs, which aren’t backed by anything anyway, are de rigueur, then all of a sudden bitcoin looks great. It will assume the role that gold served with regards to legacy money, and all the other…

This study revolves around the importance of the $13,865 level. This is of course what is known to most as the June 26, 2019 High and current Resistance for Bitcoin's uptrend. First of all, believe it or not, Bitcoin has historically only spent 39 days above the $13,865 level! That is roughly only 5 weeks, just over 1 month! And to put things more into perspective, since Bitcoin's last day above $13,865 (January 15, 2018), we have spend 1019 days below it! That alone should be enough to highlight the importance of breaking above the $13,865 for…

PayPal Adds Bitcoin
PayPal said buy, sell and hold features would be live within the next few weeks but for some users, the features are already available.
PayPal's service does not allow bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies to be withdrawn or deposited. Once you buy the coins, they stay in your account until you sell.
Initially, the service supports bitcoin (BTC), bcash (BCH), ether (ETH) and litecoin (LTC).
Paul Tudor Jones II speaks again about Bitcoin
Paul Tudor Jones said bitcoin's rally is just in the "first inning" and the cryptocurrency is the best inflation hedge.
The longtime trader believes the unprecedented quantitative easing from the Federal Reserve is setting the stage for inflation to make a grand comeback.
"Bitcoin has this enormous contingence of really, really smart and sophisticated people who believe in it," Jones said. "It's like investing with Steve Jobs and Apple or investing in Google early."
Merges and Acquisitions
PayPal Said to Be in Talks to Buy Crypto Firms Including BitGo.
BitGo was the first U.S. crypto firm to secure a broker-dealer approval, transfer agent registration and trust company recognition, allowing it to provide custody and record-keeping services.
Given that the mechanics of PayPal's new crypto offering would in effect make it a custodian, it would explain the company's reported interest in BitGo.
"Talks could still fall apart and PayPal could opt to buy other targets," Bloomberg quoted one of its sources as saying. BitGo CEO Mike Belshe declined to comment on the report. A email to PayPal requesting comment wasn't immediately answered.

Central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) are receiving more attention than ever before. Yet the motivations for issuance vary across countries, as do the policy approaches and technical designs. We investigate the economic and institutional drivers of CBDC development and take stock of design efforts. We set out a comprehensive database of technical approaches and policy stances on issuance, relying on central bank speeches and technical reports. Most projects are found in digitized economies with a high capacity for innovation. Work on retail CBDCs is more advanced where the informal economy is larger. We next take stock of the technical design…
