When I created the Thrive Like a Mother podcast, I wanted to create a safe space where we could discuss topics that we often shy away from because of our fear of judgement. Today's episode touches on one of those topics; grieving an unfulfilled birth plan. I've grieved two of them and both times I didn't necessarily understand what I was feeling until much later. My hope is that today's episode helps you fill your toolbox with ways you can take care of you if you are currently or ever come across any of the feelings I talk about.

In today's episode I chat with y'all about the social media break I decided to take the week between Christmas and New Years. I share the emotions that I started to feel that prompted my need to take a break. I also share some of the research on the effects of social media on our mental health.

It's March 1st and so that means it's birthday month for a lot of March babies, me included. In today's episode, I share a short and sweet reframe and mindset shift for how we think about getting older as adults. 

There are some moments throughout our life as we get older that remind us about how old we are or how much time has passed. 

For example:

• A show relaunching
• Technology becoming obsolete; like pay phones
• Watching our own kids get older

This may come as a surprise, but I'm an introvert. I recently had a realization though that I can have extroverted tendencies when in certain environments. If this is you too, I think you're going to love today's episode!

Recognizing this trait about myself has helped me also understand why I feel drained afterwards. It helped me learn that feeling that way is normal and it doesn't mean that something is wrong with me. It does mean that I need to be intentional about taking time to recharge.

As my girls are getting older and coming into their personalities, I've started to have major realization. And it's that it's not my job as a parent to teach my girls to be like me… instead I need to focus on teaching them that it's okay to be exactly who they are.

But here's the thing; If we can do this for our kids… why can't we do the same thing for ourselves? In today's episode, I chat with y'all about authenticity and individuality. I believe that social media, highlight reels, and comparison can steal the joy out of being an individual.

I won't be sharing the perfect 5 am morning routine.

And that's because the truth is, we're all such different people and I recognize that what may work for my morning, may not work for someone else. I also recognize that what may be working for me now may not work for a future version of me.
