Paul begins to teach on food offered as sacrifices to idols. The foundation he lays is knowledge makes a person arrogant but love edifies and builds up people.

Fathers, if it is right, let you daughters marry. If not, do not let them marry. Widows you are free to marry again but Paul advises against it.

Paul is telling us that those who are married have to be concerned with their spouse but those who are single only have their relationship with God to be concerned with. He is not saying that those who are married are less effective than those who are single. Married people have more to think about. That is appropriate but the thing we should desire is devoted attention to Jesus

Paul tells us that because of the shortness of time we should live a life that is totally abandoned to Jesus. This world is in the process of passing way. Live for the things that really matter.

Paul gives us a word of wisdom. This wisdom comes from his faithfulness to the Lord. It comes from the mercy of the Lord. Paul's wisdom is give for those in distress.

When God called you to salvation were you a slave? Then do everything you can to pay the debt. If you were free? Then be a slave to Christ because He has paid our debt.

What condition were you in when God called you to salvation. Were you Jewish or Gentile. The important thing is that you are obeying God's commands for you.

What do we do if an unbeliever leaves? The believer is free, what does that mean? What condition has God assigned to you? Marriage or single?

We look at Paul's instructions to married people. Especially to those who have unbelieving spouses.

Paul address those who are single. He calls being single good. We need to change our perception of singleness
