The world seems to be experiencing some crazy shit right now that we can’t help but wonder if some time Lord is docking around with us, or if Elon Musk and his Billionaire friends are right – that we are in some kind of virtual reality and they aren’t so silly spending fortunes on breaking us out of it.

We struggled to some Starfish back into the sea for this one, when we really wanted to throw Trump, May and Weinstein into the bloody sea.

But we got there.

We have a special guest for the next few podcasts, Kisha Bradley – Founder of Bright Box, which is a mobile Maker Space visiting children in the communities they live, seeking to inspire them through playful adventure, into curiosity, interest and maybe cultivate a passion for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths) using art and creativity to build confidence in STEM subjects.

We explore what motivated Kisha and ultimately inspired her at a young age, how she especially seeks to pay that inspiration forward particularly to girls, but also all children who may not see ‘kids like me’ aspiring to STEM education and careers.

It is said we are currently in the 3rd wave of feminism. Is feminism a dirty word – still? Can a man be a feminist? What does it mean to be a feminist, and why is feminism important and so so far away from not being needed any more.

We explore sexism, inequality, and systemic misogyny.

What are your views on feminism, from what perspective. Do you encourage your children to be feminist, or do you call it something else? Do you actively avoid or dissuade feminism? If so, why?

It’s such a broad subject, and a very important one, it feels like we are at a bit of a historical decision point, the choice being a dystopian, back stepping of women’s rights, or, if we are lucky, a time for fast tracking equality.

We are sure it’s a topic we will come back to in various forms in the future,

This week we explore Innovation. It’s one of those chats where the decades difference between us (Ruth is in her 20’s, Jonny his 30’s and Pennie her 40’s) shed a different perspective.

As with all good methodologies that stand the test of time, they tend to get repackaged and become a new panacea for change. We explore the relatively new importance placed on innovation and its context and try to articulate what it actually means, for who and in what situations.

Welcome back!

We’re sure you’ve experienced ‘one of them days’ – it starts out bad the moment you get up, maybe you stubbed your toe, then made your coffee only to discover the milk was on the turn, couldn’t find your phone or your keys before leaving the house, set off late, hit traffic, blah blah blah…

During our chat we share what we know about how to change outcomes in the moment (we say ‘know’ lightly, because sometimes we are so busy in the thick of things, that we even forget we can make it better or easier by applying a few simple hacks.

Wow. That went very fast. 53 episodes. Crikey. When we first naively planned our podcast subjects, we probably didn’t really understand just how challenging it would be to explore new subjects, and we’ve enjoyed playing with formats and subjects. We hope you’ve enjoyed them too.

If like us, your timelines and news feeds have been inundated with shock and horror about the What the Health Documentary, and a general awakening and understanding of how meat eating is a real drain on our natural resources and the environment, then, you may well have been tempted to try going vegan.

We know many people who are generally trying to reduce the amount of meat and diary they consume, and trying to understand where and how to buy ingredients with less of an impact on the environment and our health.

So it occurred to us that people often ask us for our advice or experience of all kinds of things, from apps, to the right people and places, through to approaches and methods of working. In this episode we share the tips tools and tricks we use or have used, short films that have inspired us, or little gems and nuggets of information we have found useful.

Hey welcome back!

We tackle a big, almost unfathomable conundrum in this weeks podcast.

While the global population stands at 7.5 billion today, the UN projects it will reach 10 billion in another 40 years or so, with many more people expected to live in urban areas.

Just think about that for a moment.

That’s 250 million, million more human beings draining the planet of all its resources if we don’t buck our ideas up.

According to GE, urbanisation is anticipated to be one of the most significant socio-economic trends in modern times. In terms of numbers, cities are predicted to attract 2.5 billion more residents by 2050 when there are likely to be 41 global megacities (cities with populations of 10 million or more). It wasn’t that long ago – 1990 to be precise – that there were only 10 megacities in existence around the world!
