For everything that happened before, during and after this match at Sydney, it became more than a run of the mill test match. This was an epic. It was here that this test series went to another level. It was True Grit Down Under. In this episode:
Steve Smith's interesting pre-match press conference and his 'possessed' performance. Taunts about India looking to avoid the Gabba under the pretext of tough covid regulations at Brisbane. A national geographic segment on Jadeja as he stalks his prey and swoops in with a direct hit to find the only way to get Smith out. Illiterate social media chatter on Pujara and Pant's abilities. The rowdy Sydney crowd against Bumrah & Siraj, and the latter's 5D chess move. A bit of the BCCI muscle to get things moving along. The Pant-Pujara buddy-cop movie. The now legendary partnership of Vihari and Ashwin and their organ-swapping between overs. What really was going wrong in the AUS camp? And although he did not play, why was Shardul Thakur our player of the match? Let's relive this epic of a test match!

Welcome to True Grit Down Under! This is part 2 of ThyGap's special on the legendary Border-Gavaskar series between India and Australia. Recorded way back in February, soon after the series concluded, we decided to stick it in the oven and let it marinate to perfection cos the impatient and rushed coverage elsewhere was a bit too repetitive for us (and you).
In this episode - there was disagreement on whether Rahane's century could be considered to be 'match-winning' or not? Where do you fall on that argument? The way the Indian bowling attack responded to Umesh Yadav's injury becomes another defining moment of the series for us, while the Australian team's body language in comparison is what got us curious and squint-eyed. There is Sir Jadeja's superlative contribution to the match. We finally solve the problem of DRS and Umpire's calls that plagued this match. It doesnt have to be a Schrodinger's cat situation any longer! You're welcome, Cricket.

Welcome to True Grit Down Under, a ThyGap podcast special on the legendary Border-Gavaskar series between India and Australia. Part 1 is finally here! Recorded way back in February, soon after the series concluded, we decided to stick it in the oven and let it marinate to perfection cos the impatient and rushed coverage elsewhere was a bit too repetitive for us (and you).
To get things warmed up this episode, Brut makes an impassioned case for Test Cricket. We explain what forced us to record this special? Our reaction to the 36 as it happened, and what could have happened in the Australian camp? Why do we consider post-36 events in the Indian camp to be one of the defining moments of the series? What lessons of leadership and management can be absorbed from this? The late Rohan Kanhai, West Indian captain, shared his secret to consistency with a young and impressionable Sunil Gavaskar. The wisdom and humility in the perspective he shared, makes it a life hack for anyone looking to grow and improve even today. Come revisit this legend with us, because you know it deserves it.
Stay tuned for the other parts of this special.

It's the 50th episode of the podcast! A special milestone!
What are the subtle dynamics that play out in a scenario of help, that is, from the perspective of both the helper and the 'helpee'? What would be the ideal way to help someone? How can we remove the stigma of seeking help from others? Can celebrities shut the f**k up and stop trying to part us from our money for random causes? Do you really think you're saving the rainforest or cherry-arsed Baboons? We then take a look at the Helpers' Society - a bunch of junkies ever chasing the fix of needing to help others.

Norm MacDonald is dead. The old chunk of coal has ceased to be. He fought a ten year long silent battle with cancer and finally decided to call it a draw. He was a deeply closeted gay man to the end, but he was never actually gay, because he refused to come out. He also never owned a doghouse. He was the only comedian brave enough to openly declare that he thought Hitler was a real JERK. The greatest tragedy of his passing is that we will now never know where his ideas came from.
In this episode we pay tribute to a real one. Alan Moore's Watchmen treated the death of a comedian like an ill omen for things to come. This sinking feeling takes us back to remember others gone too soon like Patrice O'Neal and Terry Jones. We then find ourselves looking at the degradation of classic late night television since the days of Letterman, Conan and Craig Ferguson. Although as a public service message, we also elaborate on why the State Bank of India is possibly the best bank in the world. (Not Sponsored. Yet)

It’s the Reverse Swing, Reverse Fortune edition of the fourth, and unfortunately final (for now) chapter of the DarkSwamp Series! We kick things off by recounting its abrupt end and pay respects to the tears of Test cricket followers and the Lancashire Cricket Club.
Then, of course, we revisit this glorious match, most of which had the momentum shift one way and back, bringing the scales back to level until, of course, the final decisive blows from India. From Manjrekar’s School of Cricket on how to accurately refer to Shardul Thakur’s batting in commentary, to Brut’s undying ‘love’ and ‘admiration’ of R Ashwin, who’s now a talisman of success meant to usher good fortune, but from the pavilion, this episode’s got all that and more. Who will be our Man of the Series? The answer will not surprise you.

The Resurgica Brittanica edition, where England went back after the loss at Lords, loosened that stiff upper lip and came back with tactical plans - calculated and calm, while India came back calm, and were just happy to see the guys after a long break. A possibly minor planetary misalignment results in a complete reversal of fortunes with absolutely no subtlety or nuance. The grass was indeed greener on the other side, for five whole days.

This part 2 of our focus on Gaming, we take a deeper look at Real Time Strategy (RTS) games like Age of Empires and Civilization, and Role-Playing Games (RPG) like Oblivion, Skyrim, The Witcher 3 etc. There's also a special mention of the world of Bioshock.
We strongly believe RTS games ought to be included in the academic curriculum of students for great benefits, and we make a case for the same. And it is in RPGs that we not only find maximum immersion, but also avenues to comprehend general discussions on simulations, perceived illusions, fractal nature of the grand design, and maybe an evolved worldview and a slightly better understanding of the world around us, and our place and purpose in it.
