Dr. Mazza’s goal is to help us live more fulfilling lives by taking control of our health to feel our best.
Please continue listening to “Thyroid Talk with Dr. Angela Mazza” We have many more interesting episodes, and guests, planned. We’ll build on this episode’s foundation, and do some more deep dives into topics I think you’ll find meaningful. In fact, in our next episode we’ll cover HYPERthyroidism and Graves’ disease.
To recap some of what we discussed—not necessarily in this order:
Hypothyroid and Hashimoto thyroiditis—and their relationship;
causal factors; the auto-immune connection; auto-immunity explained;
Dr. Hashimoto—and the diagnostic challenges and treatments associated with Hashimoto thyroiditis;
goiters;
the typical diagnostic timeline;
the importance of early diagnosis;
TSH and the common TSH screening test;
hypo-thyroid that is not Hashimoto-related;
thyroid medications and when best to take them;
use of ultrasound in diagnosing thyroid conditions;
why replacement thyroid hormone is sometimes needed;
the digestive health connection and “leaky gut”, explained;
lethargy; weight management challenges with hypo-thyroid;
and how to help our own immune systems and support our thyroid health.
Perhaps most importantly we learned how rewarding it can be to make changes based on our unique health situation—and to know we CAN impact our thyroid health!
Dr. Mazza and I hope you found this episode to be interesting, and we hope you’ll continue to follow this podcast.
As mentioned, in our next episode we’ll discuss hyperthyroidism (over-active thyroid) and Graves’ disease.
