There were – and still are – many question marks surrounding the 2020-2021 season, but it appears as if it's really going to happen. Fowler explains what he's looking forward to the most on Saturday and how he feels the defense will perform under Mike MacIntyre.

Next, the crew discusses Kenny Gainwell and what the backfield rotation could potentially look like this season. Many people close to the program expect sophomore running back Rodrigues Clark to have a breakout season, and he will have a chance to prove himself on Saturday.

Following the football talk, Hansen drops a VIP nugget regarding the NCAA's name, image and likeness legislation. Hansen explains a very interesting factor in the new legislation, and the crew breaks down what it means.

In his redshirt freshman season, Gainwell piled up 2,069 scrimmage yards and 16 total touchdowns. Throughout the year, Gainwell proved that he was arguably the best dual threat back in the country, and he was named a second team All-American by the Associated Press last week.

During the episode, the crew discusses the news and which players will now have to step up with Gainwell gone. Rodrigues Clark, Asa Martin and Kylan Watkins are among the players that will have an expanded role this season.

Next, the trio discusses four-star class of 2021 Memphis commit Josh Minott. Hansen and Stubblefield were in Atlanta, Georgia over the weekend to watch Minott play in an AAU tournament.

Minott's CP25 squad one their opening game and lost their second, and Hansen and Stubblefield give their takeaways from watching Minott play live for the first time.

In his junior year, Minott helped lead O'Connell's team to his first state championship in 35 years of coaching. 

Minott is the Tigers first commit of the class, and he is certainly a great player to start off with. Despite being 6-foot-9, Minott is a great ball handler and has very high basketball IQ, and he has a tremendously high ceiling in college.

The trio gives their opinions on the rankings, and they make the case for where Memphis should be ranked. With DJ Jeffries, Boogie Ellis and Lester Quinones back, five-star Moussa Cisse and JUCO forward Ahmad Rand and potentially getting Landers Nolley and/or DeAndre Williams, the GT247 crew certainly thinks Memphis should be higher.

This conversation leads into a discussion on why local media should be trusted more about a specific team than national media. The national media typically doesn't have all the information necessary to rank every team, but national media knows a ton about the specific team they cover.

For example, Memphis wasn't ranked as a top 25 football this season until the Big Ten and Pac-12 cancelled the season, but they certainly have a top 25 team on paper. 

Next, the crew breaks down what it means for the class of 2021 that they don't have to have SAT/ACT scores to qualify. The NCAA will qualify players based off of their GPA alone, which is a component that the GT247 trio is a big fan of.

To begin the episode, the crew discusses the recent occurrences in the college football world. Fowler, Hansen and Stubblefield discuss the Big Ten and Pac-12's decision to cancel/postpone the 2020-2021 season and how it affects other conferences.

Fortunately for the AAC and other conferences still pushing to play, the Big 12 decided on Tuesday night that they are still going to pursue a season. This occurred after the GT247 recorded the podcast, but it should make fans feel better about the potential for a season.

The trio also discusses what type of impact it could have financially and on some of the Tigers' star players if the season is cancelled or moved to the spring. What would that mean for Brady White, Damonte Coxie and Kenny Gainwell?

Since Memphis started recruiting him, Minott said Toppert has shown him the analytics Memphis uses, and the four-star was very impressed. Minott told GT247 that Memphis is run like an NBA program, which is a big reason why he chose the Tigers.

Minott has good size at 6-foot-9, but it's his ability to handle the ball and play multiple positions that sets him apart. The four-star can play the two through the four at the next level, and he will fit in perfectly in Hardaway's system.

The St. Andrew's School forward can score from all three levels, and he is also an unselfish player. GT247 was the first to tell Memphis fans about Minott, and the entire crew believes he will end up being a top 50 player in the class.

Coming out of high school, Parrish was the No. 11 overall dual-threat quarterback, but he explains why he can't why to show people how good he is as a complete quarterback. Parrish is a dangerous passer and runner, which will give offensive coordinator Kevin Johns plenty of options.

Parrish will sit behind Brady White this season, and he told GT247 that he can't wait to learn from the Tigers quarterback. In the interview, Parrish also talks about what he learned at LSU and how it can give him an advantage throughout his career at Memphis.

In this episode of Off the Boards, lead writer and host Christian Fowler is joined by GT247 founder Brooks Hansen to break down former LSU quarterback Peter Parrish' transfer to Memphis. The former four-star quarterback entered the portal on Monday, and he announced his transfer to Memphis on Thursday.

Parrish spent one season at LSU before transferring, and he has the potential to be a major difference maker at Memphis. With one year of eligibility left for Brady White, Parrish will likely heavily compete for the starting job heading into the 2021-2022 season.

Although he split time in high school, Parrish had over 2,200 all-purpose yards his senior season, and he also had 12 passing touchdowns with only one interception. Parrish is an equally dangerous runner and passer, which will allow the coaching staff to be very creative in their play calling.

Although he hasn't played much yet, Parrish learned under Joe Burrow and Joe Brady at LSU, and he will get to spend a season under White learning the playbook and building chemistry with the receivers.

If he continues to grow and develop before the start of next season, Parrish could be in for a breakout year. With his passing and rushing ability, Parrish could be one of the best quarterbacks in the AAC very soon.
