I met Byron via LinkedIn before Christmas, and we instantly connected. Although we walked different paths in life, we share a similar past and present in the building industry.
Byron is the owner and founder of Waterproof Awareness, an education, training and consultancy business. He’s been involved in the construction game for over 20 years as a former wall and floor tiler. He’s also well known for his role as a waterproofer and teacher throughout his trade career.
I love that Byron is passionate about improving building practices and standards of quality to provide safer homes for the whole community. I deeply resonated with this as it is one of the critical reasons why I founded this podcast.
Byron has created waterproofing courses for certificate III trade level, registered building practitioners with Master Builders Victoria and his Australia-wide Waterproofing Success webinar series. This combination dramatically assists in delivering an elite training and waterproofing consultancy. Byron focuses on educating his clients and students to develop more knowledgeable skills, personal and professional development and implement innovations into their current practices.
I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did speaking with Byron and that you were able to get some takeaways that can help you strengthen your trade practices. 😀 🎧

I was fortunate enough to speak with Aaron Genesin from Tectonic Tiling before the end of 2022.
Aaron realised while attending university that a nine-to-five job wouldn’t be fun, so he opted for a career path in construction. He’s a third-generation tiler based in Adelaide, with tiling DNA running through the whole wider family. With ten full-time tilers employed, his team specialises in commercial and high-end residential tiling projects all year round.
The business officially launched in 2003 and has built an enviable reputation for taking on challenging jobs. Interestingly, Aaron is one of these guys that embraces complex tiling projects because he loves expanding his capability and learning new techniques.
Tectonic Tiling wins most of its projects through reputation, word-of-mouth and reliability in providing excellent quality tiling finishes.
I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did speaking with Aaron. 😀 🎧

I was fortunate enough to speak with Brendon Welsh from Lauxes Grates recently. He gave us some of his valuable time to discuss digital marketing, including tips for sole traders to consider for their brand strategy for 2023.
Brendon has a very colourful and diverse background similar to mine. He worked in fast food for many years and as a concrete labourer before making a foundation career move with Neumann Steel. It’s here where he worked his way through many different roles over seven years. His savvy digital media experience eventually made him the perfect candidate for a position in marketing, and it’s been an epic journey of progression ever since.
Through various networking events, Brendon connected with Tim Dawson, CEO of Lauxes, and forged a new relationship. Now, he’s leading a division within the group and kicking goals every day!
I love this story because of Brendon’s ambitious nature and curiosity to step out of his comfort zone and have a go! He’s not afraid to learn from mistakes and is highly motivated to become an expert marketing guru.
If you want to connect with Brendon, you can reach him via Linkedin.

I was fortunate enough to speak with Greg Gillies in today’s episode, and he shared a glimpse of his remarkable life story with me. Greg is a husband, father of 3 children, Entrepreneur, Business Owner and highly regarded Transformation Expert.
He grew up in a small country town in New Zealand called Tapanui, where he developed his love of playing rugby. Greg spent many years in the corporate world, working tenaciously in business. However, this would eventually lead to burnout. After 20 years of hustle and grind and what felt like the world’s weight on his shoulders, Greg turned to his wife for help finding the best network of support. Greg then began a profound journey of discovering his true inner potential, filled with healing, self discovery and transformation.
I was captivated by his honesty and vulnerability as he shared the many struggles he experienced throughout life.
Today, Greg and his wife run a business called The Evolved CEO. It is a world-leading healing, alignment, and spiritual expansion process for elite CEOs and founders looking for expansion beyond their business accomplishments, life, and relationships. They offer a customised and individual healing, alignment, and transformational experience for growth CEOs and founders looking for cutting-edge personal and professional expansion solutions.
If you’re a business owner or leader looking to transform your life, I highly recommend connecting with Greg. Here are his details:
