  • Podcast: Untitled Notre Dame USC Football Podcast – Episode 9.7 Week 4 Recap Ohio State & ASU

It was an exciting weekend for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the USC Trojans, so we start the podcast talking about Taylor Swift. That was sort of a joke and we do get right into Notre Dame losing at home to Ohio State in heartbreaking fashion. Greg is despondent as we add this loss to the list of big games where the Fighting Irish come up short. We try to figure out who to blame and if Notre Dame can recover. Oh, don’t worry we also talk about the Fighting Irish only having ten players on the field for the final play. We then switch gears and focus on the Trojans. Many people are upset about the closeish victory against ASU,  but when Caleb Williams is your quarterback there is no way USC loses a game like that. The Trojans let the Sun Devils hang around a little too long, but then let them witness the power of this fully armed and operational offense. Coach Prime and Colorado are up next for the Trojans.

  • Podcast: Untitled Notre Dame USC Football Podcast – Episode 9.6 Week 3 Recap Central Michigan & Ohio State Preview

The wins keep rolling in. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish defeated the Central Michigan Chippewas this weekend, while the USC Trojans were on a bye. With only one of our vaunted teams playing last week we start with Notre Dame and their victory. It was another big and easy victory for the Fighting Irish. Sam Hartman has looked great and so has the rest of the offense. With this speed bump out of the way Notre Dame prepares for their big matchup against Ohio State. Greg and Michael have different views on who will win. As for the Trojans, they were on a bye and are preparing for an Arizona State team that may be down two quarterbacks, Caleb Williams and Co should continue their winning ways. We also discuss Peacock and how not great it is.

  • Podcast: Untitled Notre Dame USC Football Podcast – Episode 9.5 Week 2 Recap NC State & Stanford

The wins just keep on coming for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the USC Trojans.  Notre Dame beat NC State in a lightning storm, while USC beat the pants off Stanford. We start with the Fighting Irish and their electric win, and congratulate Greg for his great prediction about this game from the last episode. We talk Hartman, receivers, tight end touchdowns, Marcus Freeman, and more. We also refresh and adjust Greg’s Rudy take from last week. We then switch to the Trojans and start in the most fun place possible, freshman wide receiver Zachariah Branch. There have only been four games, but all Branch does is score touchdowns in fun ways. Since it was Stanford week, we also talk about former Cardinal coach David Shaw, and spoiler alert it’s not positive.  All of this gets everyone ready for USC’s bye week. Listen and enjoy!

  • Podcast – Untitled Notre Dame USC Football Podcast – Episode 9.4 Week 1 Recap Tennessee State & Nevada

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the USC Trojans were both victorious this past weekend. Why would we get right into either team’s winning ways, when we could start the pod by talking about the movie Rudy and Greg’s unexpected thoughts on Rudy and his dad’s relationship. When we finally get to football and Notre Dame’s victory over FCS Tennessee State, there isn’t really much to talk about. The Fighting Irish were the superior team and showed it throughout the game. Greg was never worried. Now, this wouldn’t be a college football podcast if we didn’t mention Colorado and Coach Prime. Though the Buffs looked good last week, neither Michael nor Greg would swap Colorado’s skill players for Notre Dame’s. We then move on to another blowout, The USC victory over Nevada. Caleb Williams looked like his usual amazing self, even if Greg informed Michael the talking heads are starting to take their shots at the reigning Heisman winner. We also get an update on the Raleek Brown situation from last week. Coming up, it’s more of the same next week for Notre Dame and the Trojans, who both should win their week 2 matchups.

  • Podcast: Untitled Notre Dame USC Football Podcast – Episode 9.3 Week 0 Recap San Jose State & Navy

Football is officially back for the USC Trojans and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Both teams had relatively easy Week 0 games. The Trojans beat a San Jose State team that scored a few too many points, while the Fighting Irish sunk Navy. We start with USC, and Greg repeating his questions from last week, asking if anything from the San Jose State game could sour Michael on the Trojans. Spoiler alert, the answer is still no. The Alex Grinch apologist tour that started last season just keeps on rolling this week, and we also talk about USC skill players, highlighting the play of Zachariah Branch and wondering about Raleek Brown’s future. We then turn our attention to Notre Dame, who did whatever they wanted to against Navy in Sam Hartman’s Irish debut. The Navy team may have been overmatched, but there were still some questionable decisions made by the coaches. In such a lopsided game it is hard to predict what happens next week. Speaking of next week, both the Trojans and Fighting Irish have games against another pair of weak teams. USC plays Nevada at home, and Notre Dame plays Tennessee State, the first FCS opponent in Fighting Irish history.

  • Podcast: Untitled Notre Dame USC Football Podcast – Episode 9.2 Week 0 Preview

Football is finally here for both the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the USC Trojans, and we start the 2023 season in the most logical place, beard talk. Michael firmly believes that a quarterback with a beard cannot win the national title. When we finally get to our respective teams, we discuss what exactly would be a successful season for Notre Dame and USC. The Trojans have higher aspirations than the Fighting Irish, but don’t tell that to the Notre Dame fans. Then somehow a conversation about expectations morphs into a breakdown of Coach Prime and if we believe the shtick.  Finally we make our predications for Notre Dame vs. Navy and USC vs. San Jose State.

  • Podcast: Untitled Notre Dame USC Football Podcast – Episode 9.1 Season Preview

The upcoming college football season is finally here and has the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and USC Trojans gearing up for action, prompting us to release our season preview podcast. To kick things off, we delve into the shifting landscape of college football realignment, with a nod to the changes in the Pac-12 conference. Shifting gears, our focus turns to the Notre Dame team preview. Greg’s enthusiasm centers around the emergence of new quarterback Sam Hartman, along with standout cornerbacks Benjamin Morrison and Cam Hart. Insightful discussions span across the wide receivers and various positional groups within the team.

Turning our attention to the USC Trojans, the conversation becomes dominated by the buzz around Caleb Williams. As the reigning Heisman Trophy winner and an exceptional player in college football, Williams holds the key to the Trojans’ success. Michael emphasizes the strength of the USC secondary and expresses confidence in the defense. While Miller Moss receives some attention (per usual) a certain level of skepticism emerges about the Trojan skill position players.

  • Podcast: Untitled Notre Dame USC Football Podcast – Episode 8.19 NFL Draft Recap

It may be the offseason for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the USC Trojans, but we are back with recap of the 2023 NFL Draft as it relates to the two schools. USC had the first pick of the night and the most picks over the three day event, but like most things Notre Dame USC things were pretty similar. After a draft rundown we talk a little about what the departing players mean for the teams. Then we get into transfer talk. For the record Michael and the Trojans love transfers, but Greg has thoughts on the players who left Notre Dame. We even end with a fun story on why Michael is a Patriots fan, and because this is the greatest intersectional rivalry in all of sports, it involves Notre Dame hate.

  • Podcast: Untitled Notre Dame USC Football Podcast – Episode 8.18 Bowl Recap

Bowl season has come and gone with mixed results for both the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the USC Trojans. It was more of the same for the Trojans, lots of points on offense coupled with lots of points given up on defense. This loss was especially bad since USC had a seemingly insurmountable lead with 5 minutes left in the game against Tulane. This lackluster defense performance is probably the end for defensive coordinator Alex Grinch, since the Trojans can’t waste Heisman winner Caleb Williams’ probable last year. The Fighting Irish on the other hand, came back from being down early and giving three non-offensive to rally and win their bowl game. Tyler Buchner was all over the place during the game, which showed why Notre Dame had to go out and get the best quarterback in the portal Sam Hartman. We also lightly touch on Michigan losing and the National Title Game with Georgia and TCU.

  • Podcast: Untitled Notre Dame USC Football Podcast – Episode 8.17 Awards, Signings, Bowl Games

After a long hiatus with no games, it has still been an exciting time for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the USC Trojans. Awards season was a giant success for the Trojans, while the Irish felt snubbed. There is transfer action for both USC and Notre Dame, with some exciting players tied to both schools. Early signing day came and went. The Trojans signed the top player in the class and Notre Dame was part of the top/craziest story of signing day. After all that we still have to prep for bowl games this weekend even though it’s unclear who will be actually playing in the games.  With all that there is even time for some Top Gun: Maverick hot takes.
