It was a winning weekend for both the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the USC Trojans. This week’s episode starts with the Trojans and their narrow victory over the Oregon State Beavers. It was an ugly game for USC and they almost lost, but a win is a win. It’s also nice this game was on the Pac-12 Network so no one saw how bad the Trojan offense played. That is, except for running back Travis Dye. In order to seal the victory USC had to continue their amazing turnover streak. Next week is a reeling Arizona State team so the Trojans should win handily. The Fighting Irish on the other hand rolled over North Carolina. The team looked good in every facet of the game. Backup quarterback Drew Pyne played well, as did all of Notre Dame’s running backs. The Fighting Irish are on a nice two game winning streak heading into the bye.

It’s time for a celebration because both the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the USC Trojans won their games this weekend. Not only did Notre Dame win their game against Cal, but head coach Marcus Freeman picked up his victory ever. It was another boring game for the Fighting Irish. Things finally started to come together for Notre Dame and then they tried their hardest to let Cal back in the game and lose. A win is a win, and even though there may be many flaws you have to start somewhere. The Trojans on the other hand have no visible flaws on the offensive side of the ball. Lincoln Riley has USC scoring on almost every drive. The Trojans production makes watching the games extremely fun, and it puts the defense in a good position. Let’s see how long this can continue for.

The second week of the season is complete for both the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the USC Trojans and the teams are heading in opposite directions. Notre Dame lost their second game of the season, this time to lowly Marshall. The Fighting Irish looked terrible and just about everything went wrong. Even the quarterback got hurt. We take stock of the season so far, what has gone wrong and what to expect going forward. It’s the exact opposite trajectory for the Trojans. USC wins again. The offense looked great against Stanford and started the game red hot. The defense has some questions, but are creating a lot of turnovers. The Trojans look to continue their winning ways against Fresno State this Saturday.

Week 1 of the 2022 college football season is in the books for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the USC Trojans, and we have split results. We start with the Fighting Irish who lost a close game to the Ohio State Buckeyes. We discuss what was a boring game that had few highlights for Notre Dame. We try to find some bright spots, while questioning the effectiveness of Notre Dame offensive coordinator Tommy Rees. Unfortunately for the Fighting Irish there were not many takeaways to apply to the upcoming game against Marshall. The focus then shifts to the USC Trojans and Lincoln Riley’s first game as USC’s head coach. The Trojans dominated Rice in every facet of the game. It was the type of win the USC fans have not seen in years. Things are looking bright for the Trojans this coming week against Stanford.

The first game of the season is finally here for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the USC Trojans. The start of the season brings hope and exciting for everyone, and anything is possible. We start with the Trojans. USC’s week 1 opponent is Rice, but it doesn’t matter who the Trojans are playing. Everyone is waiting for the start of the Lincoln Riley era. The expectations for the offense are unlimited and any number of players could become stars. The defense is a bit of a question mark, but they have to be better than last year. The week 1 task is a bit more difficult for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish who have to travel to Columbus and face the Ohio State Buckeyes. Notre Dame will being playing the role of underdog, and getting that first victory will be difficult for Marcus Freeman and the Irish. All eyes will be on Notre Dame quarterback Tyler Buchner on offense while the defensive line will have to show up to stop the Buckeyes. This should be an interesting game where anything could happen. We also have a little Brian Kelly talk for old time’s sake.

The season is finally here. The 2022-23 college football season is about to kickoff for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the USC Trojans, so we thought it was time for a season preview. Season 8 starts with the Trojans and all of their new players. It’s hard for anyone to guess what is possible when this group of players either hasn’t played with each other, hasn’t played in awhile or both. All the questions make it more fun to root for Lincoln Riley and the Trojans since truly anything is possible. USC isn’t the only team with questions. Notre Dame may have notable offensive and defensive lines, but the Irish have a first year coach, quarterback, defensive coordinator and kicker that give a reason for pause. In addition to all the first year players and coaches, Notre Dame is also very think at receiver. All these facts could lead to a lackluster season for the Irish, but everything could also come together for the team. After discussing both teams we have to take some time to talk about the Manti Te’o documentary. Let’s just say there is a difference of opinion on things.

Sound the alarm! It’s an unexpected unannounced podcast. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and The USC Trojans are deep into the offseason and have no real breaking news to talk about between them. It’s the perfect time for a general thoughts conversation. We start with the Trojans and get into how it feels to be the transfer portal villain. As I Trojan fan we talk about what it’s like to root for a bunch of new players. When we get the Fighting Irish, Michael wants to get it on the record that he thinks Notre Dame will lose 4 games next year. We don’t get too deep on specifics, but there are some general question marks going into the new season. Make sure to listen all the through to get Greg’s take on Shoegate.

On this very Notre Dame Fighting Irish heavy episode of the podcast, we get everyone ready for the Fiesta Bowl. We start in the only place you can right now and talk about the new COVID surge and if it will cancel or delay the bowl game. Then we get into the game itself and Notre Dame’s opponent, the Oklahoma State Cowboys, The theme that runs through most of the conversation is how will the Fighting Irish adapt to not having starting running back Kyren Williams. After making predictions for the game we jump into some 2023 recruiting news. Notre Dame is expected to add a top fifty player in the coming weeks and as of Christmas Eve the USC Trojans now have three top twenty-five commits. This leads to a discussion on how many five star players are necessary to actually compete for a national title and how to lure them to campus. Hope everyone has a happy New Year and stays safe. Enjoy!
