  • Podcast: Untitled Notre Dame USC Football Podcast – Episode 7.5 Wisconsin Oregon State

Another week of games is in the books for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the USC Trojans.  Both teams may have played, but the results were very different. We start with the Trojans and how a USC loss was the icing on the cake for a rough Saturday for Michael. It was more of the same for USC, mental errors, boring offense, giving up big plays and no sacks. There may be a new coach, but everything feels the same. Everything is the same for Notre Dame too. The Irish continue to win. This week they were a 6.5 point underdog and were able to eke out a 41-13 victory. After talking about the win we focus on Jack Coan and his knack for being sacked and Graham Mertz’s interception party.

  • Podcast: Untitled Notre Dame USC Football Podcast – Episode 7.4 Clay Helton Fired

It finally happened. The USC Trojans fired head coach Clay Helton. In honor of the firing we had to do an emergency podcast. The news came out this afternoon, and in true Trojan fashion Helton was fired during the season. We reflect on the end of an era. What is next for the Trojans and who could be the next coach. But mostly we talk Clay Helton and how he woefully performed at USC. Without Helton around what will we talk about now?

  • Podcast: Untitled Notre Dame USC Football Podcast – Episode 7.3 Stanford Toledo

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the USC Trojans both played football games, but only one team secured a victory. We start with the Trojans and their loss to the Stanford Cardinal. USC lost 42-28, and this could be the end of the Clay Helton era. It’s more of the same for the Trojans, with more questions than answers about the state of the program and what the future holds. The worst part of all of this is it sucks all the fun out of the room. The Fighting Irish are also giving their fans something to worry about. If wasn’t for some fourth quarter heroics, Notre Dame would have lost to a MAC school. We go over Marcus Freeman and Tommy Rees’s growing pains and the Fighting Irish’s general bad luck. WE also talk about the debut of freshman quarterback Tyler Buchner.

  • Podcast: Untitled Notre Dame USC Football Podcast – Episode 7.2 Week 1 FSU SJSU

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and The USC Trojans played in real football games this past weekend, and both won. We start with Notre Dame’s nail bitter overtime win against Florida State.  Even though the game was close and some things need some work, we were able to highlight some good things that happened, like the amazing Kyle Hamilton interception. There are some real issues for the Fighting Irish, but the important thing is they won. As for the Trojans, no one was able to actually watch the game because it was on the useless Pac-12 Network. IF USC wins a game and no one can watch it, did they even win? If you poll the average Trojan fan they did not. Everyone has issues with how USC played against San Jose state, but there are some positive trends for the Trojans and reasons to be excited for the season.

  • Podcast: Untitled Notre Dame USC Football Podcast – Episode 7.1 2021 Season Opener

The 2021 football season is finally here for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the USC Trojans. We start with some literal housekeeping, and then announce our big trip to South Bend for the 2021 USC Notre Dame game. We start with our focus on the Trojans, and that inevitable leads to a discussion about Clay Helton and what a bad season would be for him. How hot is his seat really? We then move the discussion to the Fighting Irish and how people could have such low expectations for the team. We end the episode by picking next week’s games.

  • Podcast: Untitled Notre Dame USC Football Podcast – Episode 6.27 Kyle Hamilton On Offense & The Playoffs

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the USC Trojans may not being playing football right now, but we still have a lot to talk about. The big news is Notre Dame safety Kyle Hamilton may be playing a little offense this year. If you are a regular listener to the podcast you know Greg has been asking for this for more than a year, and now it may come true. We talk about the pros and cons. Greg even talks about his recent chat with Jeff Burris for this UHND article. Once the Kyle lovefest dies down, we get into the new 12 team college football playoff. Since this podcast is hosted by a PAC-12 homer and Notre Dame superfan, we have some thoughts. Enjoy!

  • Podcast: Untitled Notre Dame USC Football Podcast – Episode 6.26 Spring Practice Hopes And Dreams

Spring is here for both the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the USC Trojans. Each fan base is full of hope and optimism for the upcoming season and no one wants to jinx anything. Putting football aside to start things off, we talk about the biggest jinx on the podcast lately, and that is Greg and Michael’s progress as fit dads. Kids, getting old is rough. When we get to football, we start with Notre Dame’s RPO offense in the spring and what it means for the season, that transitions into talk about Trojan quarterback Kedon Slovis’s arm, which then becomes an enlightening conversation on what Clay Helton and Brian Kelly’s number one trait is. That somehow gets us to a story about Greg’s trip to the Florida State locker room during spring break. It’s quite a ride

  • Podcast: Untitled Notre Dame USC Football Podcast – Episode 6.25 Minimum Expectations

We are back with another sporadic offseason podcast. There is no real Notre Dame Fighting Irish or USC Trojan football news, but Greg had found himself in a controversy around Brian Kelly and freshman wide receivers getting playing time. Things like the definition of significant, if Greg “really” knows football, blocked me on twitter and subjective are thrown around freely. Once the trolls are fed, we discuss what the minimum expectations are for our teams in 2021. Spoiler alert, Notre Dame and USC are not quite on the same level. We end things with a nice reminder to stay positive and this is supposed to be fun.

  • Podcast: Untitled Notre Dame USC Football Podcast – Episode 6.24 The Offseason Continues USC Thoughts & Being A Notre Dame Homer(Updated)

It’s still the offseason for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the USC Trojans, so Michael and Greg have to talk about their personal fitness goals and current regiments. Nothing like two dads talking about staying in shape. When the conversation gets to football, Michael talks about the state of the USC football program and how the Trojans are trending in the right direction in many areas like recruiting, staff and facilities. Having a positive outlook like that was used against Greg in some recent internet comments, claiming he is sipping the Brian Kelly Kool-Aid. Notre Dame fans do not want Greg to be happy about an undefeated regular season, beating the number one team in the nation, and making it to the College Football Playoff.  We end with some recruiting talk.

  • Podcast: Untitled Notre Dame USC Football Podcast – Episode 6.23 Notre Dame Offseason Hope

There were no USC Trojan or Notre Dame Fighting Irish football games to talk about this week, so we used our time wisely and started things off by discussing Moana. Yes, the 2016 Disney movie. Once cartoon talk is over Michael takes a moment to describe how he feels about Tom Brady and his return to the Super Bowl. When we finally get to college football there’s only one place to start, and that is new Notre Dame defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman. Freeman has all the Fighting Irish fans excited, with his determination and fire on the recruiting trail. Then the Marcus Freeman discussion leads to some overall thoughts on the current state if the Notre Dame football program
