  • Podcast: Untitled Notre Dame USC Football Podcast – Episode 7.15 Bowl Talk & Recruiting

We are back with another UHND crossover podcast. After a crazy week for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the USC Trojans things settled down, and we have a free flowing conversation that occasionally touches on mature subjects. After some light housekeeping, we start by discussing players like Kyle Hamilton, Kyren Williams and Drake London declaring for the NFL, which then leads into our thoughts on players opting out of games. That transitions into recruiting talk and speculation around early signing day for the Trojans and the Irish. With no real football to talk about we bounce around to multiple subjects, and just have a fun time. Enjoy

  • Podcast: Untitled Notre Dame USC Football Podcast – Episode 7.14 Brian Kelly Resigns

It was a wild week for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the USC Trojans. The only way to properly discuss what went down is to do it chronologically. We start at Lincoln Riley’s introductory press conference, work through Brian Kelly leaving Notre Dame, the hiring of Marcus Freeman and end with bowl selections. This past week was so unbelievable that is was hard to document everything. Enjoy!

  • Podcast: Untitled Notre Dame USC Football Podcast – Episode 7.13 Stanford Lincoln Riley

It’s another crosspod with UHND. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish completed their regular season with a big win against Stanford and the USC Trojans made a big splash with their new coach. We get to the hiring of Lincoln Riley in the second half of the pod, so we start with the game against Stanford and who looked good for the Fighting Irish. Then we run down playoff scenarios for Notre Dame. Once the Fighting Irish talk is over, we get into USC’s new head football coach Lincoln Riley, and how the Trojans are instantly relevant. The greatest intersectional rivalry in all of college football just got a little more interesting.

  • Podcast: Untitled Notre Dame USC Football Podcast – Episode 7.12 UCLA Georgia Tech CFP Rankings

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! For the Notre Dame Fighting Irish there is a lot to be thankful for, but for the USC Trojans everything stinks. Greg forces the conversation right to the Trojans and their humiliating loss against local rival UCLA. The big question to ask is what is USC even playing for. The season in meaningless, there is nothing left on the line, so how can the players get excited for the games. We also talk a little about the coaching search and post season awards before we switch to Norte Dame.  The Fighting Irish played Georgia Tech at home and it was senior day. The seniors went out with a bang shutting out the Yellow Jackets. The game was so lopsided there is not much to talk about so we go straight to College Football Playoff rankings. Notre Dame is ranked 6th but the possible to move up is there. However, Greg is worried about a team from the Big 12 jumping the Irish. We also talk a little about a lack of post season recognition for Notre Dame players.  Enjoy!

  • Podcast: Untitled Notre Dame USC Football Podcast – Episode 7.11 Virginia

The USC Trojans may have not had a game this week like the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, but they still mad news. USC’s game against Cal was postponed until December because of COVID and their best prospect decommitted. It’s all hard times for the Trojans. It’s the complete opposite for Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish won again, and it was another example of what a competent program Brian Kelly has built at Notre Dame. The facts of the game against Virginia are not even important. The Fighting Irish should win out and we end doing college football playoff math.

  • Podcast: Untitled Notre Dame USC Football Podcast – Episode 7.10 Navy ASU Recap

A day later then usually but we are here and ready to talk about the Notre Dame Fighting Irish’s victory over the Navy Midshipmen and the USC Trojans loss to the Arizona State Sun Devils. We start with Notre Dame who weathered the storm against Navy. The victory wasn’t always pretty, but in the end the Fighting Irish did what they had to do. It was a mixed bag for the Irish offense, but the defense played well.  Virginia is coming up this week. When we move on to the Trojans it’s more of the same. It was another loss where the team looked terrible. The quarterback timeshare is not working and the team continues to make mistake after mistake. Who knows what happens next.

  • Podcast: Untitled Notre Dame USC Football Podcast – Episode 7.9 ASU Navy Preview

After a spooky Halloween we are back to preview the USC Trojans’ game against the Arizona State Sun Devils and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish’s match up against the Navy Midshipmen.  We start the episode talking about the sad state of affairs that is the USC Trojans. Their best player is out for the season, they probably can’t make it to the Pac-12 title game and there is a weird two quarterback system being implemented. On top of all this, USC’s 2022 recruiting class consists of just nine players; mostly DBs. Things are not great for the Trojans. Who knows what will happen in Tempe. Notre Dame may be coming into the game against Navy rolling, but Greg is nervous and thinks this might be a trap game.  Navy has only two wins so Michael is less than concerned for the Irish. We also discuss how fans hate the incumbent in position battles and that the fans need to get off Kyle Hamilton’s back, he’s hurt. We end things talking about playoff positioning and predictions.

  • Podcast: Untitled Notre Dame USC Football Podcast – Episode 7.8 2021 USC Notre Dame Rivalry Recap

Rivalry week is over and we are back. Greg was kind enough to have Michael on his other podcast to talk about the Notre Dame USC game and their trip to South Bend. Don’t be confused by the different intro. There was also a preview podcast some people might have missed that was posted over at UHND.com.

Greg is back from South Bend with a lost voice but a happy heart, as he and his friend Michael Muto discuss the game and their weekend at Notre Dame. Michael did not enjoy the ending but loved the scene, as the Irish made it four straight against the Trojans and moved to 6-1 on the season, despite Greg’s beloved Kyle Hamilton leaving the game early due to injury.

    Topics include:

    • Main takeaways from the weekend
    • A run down of the sights and scenes from the tailgate
    • Meeting friends of the pod
    • USC doing what USC does
    • Kyle Hamilton’s injury
    • Kyren Williams greatness
    • The way Tommy Rees used Jack Coan
    • The defense late in the game
    • The light show
    • Words of appreciation for South Bend and college football

Thanks to everyone for listening, Go Irish!

  • Podcast: Untitled Notre Dame USC Football Podcast – Episode 7.7 Utah & Virginia Tech

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the USC Trojans both played football games this season, but the results were noticeably different. We start with the Trojans, who lost at home to the Utah Utes. It was another embarrassing loss for USC at home.  Just like with their other losses this season the Trojans could not get anything going when it mattered on offense and the defense could not stop anything. The lone bright spot was the play of USC wide receiver Drake London. Now Notre Dame may have won their game against Virginia Tech, but things started out similarly to last week. The Fighting Irish needed a switch at quarterback to get things going, and in the end they narrowly defeated Virginia Tech. The fourth quarter of this game was wild, and so was the refereeing. We else prep for both teams’ bye week and our trip to South Bend.

  • Podcast: Untitled Notre Dame USC Football Podcast – Episode 7.6 Cincinnati & Colorado

It was a busy weekend for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and The USC Trojans. We start with Notre Dame who suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday at the hands of probable future USC head coach Luke Fickell and his Cincinnati Bearcats.  Greg wasn’t able to watch the game live, but gives a rundown of how he received game information and what it was like eventually watching the game knowing it was a loss. We also focus on Irish quarterback Jack Coan and how Notre Dame tends to not score points when he is in the game.  We also talk about the Irish’s kicking woes. When we switch gears to the Trojans it’s just another run of the mill victory for USC. Drake London was great, but the Clay Helton shadow still looms large over everything the Trojans do. It’s time to fully clean house. With that being the case USC could backdoor their way into a PAC-12 title game just like usual.
