The same way the ball drops in Times Square, Mack has dropped the ball on himself. Deke tries to celebrate the new year with his friend but Mack's (home) walls remain up and guarded.

When you're depressed, you gotta just be off your game and look disheveled. But not TOO disheveled. Like enough that you shave your head, but not your face. And that you can go get more drinks, but also with what money? And not so disheveled that you can't put together a model car. It's called *balance*.

This certainly was an episode. There's art, there's maturity (or lack thereof), mysterious reappearances of guys we thought were absorbed by bright lights, and there's religious/cultish gaslighting. What more could you possibly want?
