Monique Duell:
Turning Grief Into Purpose and Giving Voice to the Unspoken
When you see Monique Duell’s book cover gleaming in the heart of Times Square, you’re not just witnessing a career milestone—you’re witnessing a movement. As an author, speaker, and disability advocate, Monique’s brand is deeply rooted in truth, resilience, and the lived experiences she has boldly transformed into stories, speeches, and support for others. Her mission: to help people feel seen, understood, and empowered—especially in their hardest moments.A Brand Built on Truth and Resilience
Monique Duell doesn’t shy away from the hard topics. “My personal brand is rooted in truth, resilience, and lived experience,” she explains. Her words—whether on the page or from the stage—give voice to the realities of grief, caregiving, and special needs families. “Everything I create is centered around helping people feel seen, understood, and empowered in their most difficult moments.” In a world often obsessed with polished perfection, Monique’s authenticity is a breath of fresh air. From Writer to Advocate: The Power of Going Beyond the Page
Writing was Monique’s first refuge—a space to process, to heal, and to reflect. But her story didn’t end there. “I quickly realized my message needed to live beyond the page,” she says. So she took to public speaking and advocacy, bringing her message directly to communities who needed it most. “I wanted to connect directly with people, build awareness, and create real conversations around grief, disability, and resilience.”
Advocacy Informs Every Word
Monique’s books are shaped and colored by her lived reality as a disability advocate and a family member entrenched in caregiving. “Being in the disability space—especially within a family context—has shown me the emotional, physical, and systemic challenges people face every day. Those realities shape my storytelling so it’s not abstract, but grounded, honest, and relatable.”Core Messages:
Resilience, Honesty, Healing
At the heart of Monique’s mission is a simple but powerful belief: “Your pain is valid, your story matters, and your voice deserves to be heard.” Her work radiates themes of resilience, honesty, healing, and empowerment. For Monique, grief and struggle aren’t endpoints—they’re fuel for renewing one’s purpose.Built on Authentic Connections
Monique knows that the strongest communities are built not on promotion, but on engagement. “Consistency, authenticity, and storytelling have been key. Sharing real moments rather than polished perfection helps people connect deeply,” she shares. Real, raw, and relatable moments have created a loyal and growing network around her.The Times Square Moment:
A Dream Realized
When Monique learned that her book would be featured on a Times Square billboard, she describes the experience as “surreal and emotional.” She thought of every step that led to that moment—from the struggles to the triumphs, and everything in between. “It was one of those moments where you pause and realize your message is reaching far beyond what you imagined.”
For Monique, this isn’t simply personal recognition; it’s validation for every special needs family, every caregiver, and everyone navigating grief. “My mission has always been to bring grief, disability, and lived experience into spaces where they are not usually centered. Seeing my work displayed in Times Square feels like a powerful validation of that mission.”The Book That Made It to Times Square
The inspiration for Monique’s featured book is heartbreakingly real. Within a span of just two weeks, Monique lost her beloved paternal grandmother, Inez, and her younger sister Maggie—two monumental figures in her life. Maggie’s passing was especially hard, leaving behind a one-year-old daughter. Through her writing, Monique sought to channel the complexities of grief, defying the sanitized, simplified perspectives that often dominate public conversations.
“I wanted to create something raw and honest that reflects what grief actually feels like, not just how it’s traditionally presented.”
A Platform for Change
With a billboard in Times Square, Monique hopes to open doors to more honest conversations about grief and disability—and for more people to realize they’re not alone. “Greater visibility means more opportunities to spread awareness, connect with families, and build a larger community around healing and support.”
Monique credits this opportunity to “intentional networking, aligning with the right platforms, and consistently building my brand presence.” It’s a testament to the power of authentic connection and relentless dedication.Beyond the Page:
Speaking, Creating, Impacting
Writing and speaking feed one another in Monique’s life. “Writing allows me to refine my thoughts, while speaking allows me to bring those thoughts to life emotionally. They work together—what I write becomes the foundation, and what I speak becomes the heartbeat of the message.”
Of course, her journey hasn’t been without its challenges—especially navigating spaces that aren’t always built for accessibility or for lived experience. But Monique has found strength in adversity. “Those challenges have strengthened my voice and deepened my purpose. They’ve made me more intentional about advocating not just for myself, but for others in similar situations.”
A defining milestone in Monique’s path came when she realized her story resonated well beyond her immediate circle—a moment that empowered her to step boldly into advocacy work.
