Eskom has announced it will implement stage 4 load-shedding from 9am on Wednesday until Friday.

“It is with a great deal of disappointment that Eskom has to inform the public that further failures overnight of generation units has necessitated the implementation of stage 4 load-shedding starting at 9am,” said Eskom spokesperson Sikhonathi Mantshantsha.

This will be in force until 5am on Friday.

Stage 2 rotational power cuts will be in place from 5pm on Monday afternoon, says embattled power utility Eskom.

Initially, Eskom said the power cuts would kick in from 9pm on Monday, but this was changed just 20 minutes later.

Spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha said the cuts were due to “multiple generating unit failures in the past 24 hours”.

KZN Premier Sihle Zikalala said the provincial government reprioritised R10 million which is aimed at offering assistance to affected businesses.

Grants for a single applicant will be capped at R20,000. The grant is aimed at assisting more than 500 businesses across the province.
