Justice and correctional services minister Ronald Lamola appeared before the SA Human Rights Commission hearing into the 2021 July unrest on Thursday. Lamola gave a detailed account of the unrest, including the efforts made by his ministry to deal with the unrest from the time it erupted to now, as we approach the one-year mark.

KwaZulu-Natal deputy judge president Isaac Madondo handed down judgment in the Pietermaritzburg high court on Wednesday on the civil matter related to three applications brought before the court regarding King Goodwill Zwelithini's will.

The third volume of the state capture commission implicates prominent individuals like former president Jacob Zuma and Gwede Mantashe in corruption.

The chairperson of the commission and acting chief justice Raymond Zondo said authorities would likely uncover corruption if they pursued further investigations into the allegations levelled against Mokonyane and Mantashe.

Former president Jacob Zuma has rejected the finding of the state capture inquiry that he “accepted gratification” from controversial state contractor Bosasa, which “held and sought to obtain contracts with government”.

The finding is contained in part 3 of the state capture inquiry report, officially handed to the presidency on Tuesday.

In a statement released early on Wednesday morning, the Jacob Zuma Foundation said the former president rejected the findings as he asserts he was not afforded an opportunity to be heard.
