The red berets celebrated their ninth anniversary in Mangaung, Free State. EFF leader Julius Malema used the celebrations to lament crime and the economic and leadership crises.

Malema said “gangster” President Cyril Ramaphosa’s days in office are numbered. “The nose will be pulled from that office.”

Next month Netflix will premier its first Afrikaans series Ludik, starring  South African-born Hollywood actor Arnold Vosloo who was last seen in Silvertone Siege and other local local heavyweight talents Rob Van Vuuren, Diaan Lawrenson and Zane Meas.

A Netflix spokesperson confirmed to Sunday Times that Ludik is indeed the first Afrikaans production to make it onto the service, and that it will go out globally on 26 August.

Dali Mpofu, acting for Busisiwe Mkhwebane, has asked a witness in her impeachment inquiry to apologise to the suspended public protector for "belittling" her.

Sphelo Samuel has echoed claims by a former senior investigator in the public protector's office that Mkhwebane did not want adverse findings made against politicians. He also referred to her as "intellectually challenged".

ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe's explanation as to why the ruling party can’t guarantee its staff will be paid on time has been met with mixed reactions, with some calling it irresponsible. 

Speaking to SABC News at the ANC's gala dinner on Wednesday ahead of the party's national policy conference, Mabe said the party is not a bank robbery syndicate that can predict when it will get money.

Four armed men forced their way into the Arena Holdings head office in Johannesburg on Wednesday night.

They held up the front gate and reception security at gunpoint. “They then proceeded to the second floor where they took two computers, before going to the first floor where they forced open HR cabinets and a storeroom which hold some files,” said group CEO Mzi Malunga.

Suspended public protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane seems to have more forces battling against her.

The DA has laid down the reasons Mkhwebane’s probe into Farmgate allegations can’t stop President Cyril Ramaphosa from “doing his job”.

The party has also expressed discontent with the public protector for “using taxpayers’ money” to fight her cases.

Minister of sports, arts and culture Nathi Mthethwa promised equal pay for all women's sports teams including Banyana Banyana. This follows their first-ever Women's Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon) final victory at the weekend in Morocco. Mthethwa, along with SA Football Association (SAFA) president Danny Jordaan, addressed the issue of unequal pay among women's and men's sports teams in SA during a function at OR Tambo to welcome home the women's national soccer team on Tuesday.
