Norm Casse is the trainer of Southlawn, a successful three-year old filly and entry in the 2023 Kentucky Oaks.  He is a Louisville native from a racing family, now carving his own path in the sport.  We chat about his roots, how he broke into training, and get his thoughts on Southlawn heading into the big race.

In this episode I visit with John Mullendore, the head golf professional at Indian Hills Country Club in Bowling Green, KY.  John was recently named the Kentucky PGA Professional of the Year.  In 2019, Indian Hills lost their clubhouse to a fire.  In December of 2021, a few weeks after opening the new clubhouse, a tornado ripped through the golf course itself, taking out 300 trees.  John's teaching ability is top-notch, but his outlook, work ethic, and leadership through adversity are what set him apart.  I hope you enjoy my conversation with a childhood friend who is accomplishing big things.  You can click on the following link to view the video from his awards ceremony.

This episode begins with a quick introduction of myself, the origins, and initial plans for the podcast.  Then I visit with Dustin Downey, the Head Women's Soccer Coach at Idaho State University.  Dustin and I have known each other for years and worked together at Western Kentucky University.  He has risen through the ranks as a collegiate coach but also has experience on the youth level and with US Soccer.  This conversation focuses mainly on the transition to being a head coach.
