He became aware of Tinryland through his involvement with the Carlow senior footballers. Initially, Stephen O'Meara liked what he saw in the attitude of Tinryland players such as Shane Redmond,  Paul Broderick, Diarmaid Walshe and Cian Lawlor. 
When he was asked to manage the club it didn't take him too long to agree to do so.
Now Tinryland are within sixty minutes of a coveted senior title.
