We spoke earlier this week about a new charge that is on the way for shop and pub owners.
We found out in recent days that selling cigarettes and vapes will require an annual license from the HSE starting from February 2nd, 2026,
it costs €1,000 for tobacco and €800 for nicotine products per premises.
That means that for premises who sell both, they will have to pay €1800 a year.
But some small shop owners say it is a cripppling cost and yet another nail in the coffin of small rural businesses.
