In this episode authors Jove Belle and Blythe Rippon chat about the Russo Test. 

The Bechdel test has been around since it first appeared in Dykes to Watch Out For in 1985, but it moved to general parlance in the 2000s. Perhaps it's impressive, then, that we learned about the Vito Russo test a mere five years after it was introduced in 2012. The test sets a very low bar (like the Bechdel test) for measuring positive representation of queer characters. We evaluate its efficacy and discuss some movies and television characters that pass it. 

Both are published authors and all round badass women in their own right.  Jove is also on the Women And Words podcast where she and Andi do a roundup of the week’s happenings on their website.
