GUEST 2 OVERVIEW: Dr John Harries is Secretary of the Australian Nuclear Association. He is a physicist who worked on reactor physics, the management and disposal of radioactive waste, environmental effects of mining and radioactivity in the environment during his 34 years as a research scientist at AAEC/ANSTO. He was Head of the Research Unit for the Royal Commission into British Nuclear Tests in Australia (1984-85) and Counsellor (Nuclear) in Washington DC between 1990-93. He has been a member of ANA Committee since 2003, including 5 years as President and seven years to date as Secretary of ANA, Editor of the Newsletter and Manager of several ANA Conferences.

GUEST 1 OVERVIEW: Dr Peter Ridd is a geophysicist with over 100 publications and 35 years’ experience working on the Great Barrier Reef and developed a wide range of world-first optical and electronic instruments for measuring environmental conditions near corals and other ecosystems. He was head of Physics at James Cook University for over a decade before being fired, in 2018, for questioning the quality assurance systems used by reef science institutions. Some of the poor-quality work relates to the effect, or lack of effect, of climate change, and agriculture, on the reef. Dr Ridd now works, unpaid, with agricultural organisations, and the Institute of Public Affairs to improve quality assurance systems of “science” used by Australian governments to make environmental laws and regulations.

GUEST 2 OVERVIEW: Prue MacSween is an Australian television and radio personality, journalist, social commentator, and public relations director. She is the public relations director of Verve Communications, and as a media commentator, MacSween has made a number of comments considered to be controversial. MacSween's extensive career in the media began at Eastern Suburbs Newspapers, as a cadet journalist. during which time she studied at the Sydney Technical College where she completed an Advertising Certificate in 1972.
