In the first part JC calls out the ideologies displayed with Disney’s first black princess, Tiana, in “The Princess & The Frog.” JC expresses how these images shown to young girls may translate into their lives as adult women. As JC moves to part 2 of “Girl, Who Told You?”, she will dive into her own experiences with being a black women dealing with patriarchy. Ultimately, she challenges women to think “who told you that you were just a girlfriend or wife?”

Practicing self love and self care is vital. Special guest and host discuss their individual experiences upon this journey and share helpful tips to those hoping to begin. Two young women speak about what plays significant roles that deter youth from learning about themselves in healthy, loving ways.

This episode digs deep into the speakers past and childhood trauma . I wanted to share this story to encourage those that have dealt with similar experiences and emotions. Mental illness is prevalent in society and true healing , support, and love is necessary to combat it.
