In this episode, Davi interviews Sevim Kalyoncu, the Executive Director of Green Muslims, a non-profit organization which serves the Muslim community in invigorating the environmental spirit of Islam through spiritually inspired education, action, and reflection. She is involved with multiple local climate action groups in the Washington DC Metropolitan area dedicated to helping educate youth about the importance of environmental awareness for spiritual, mental, and physical well-being. She holds a B.S. from Georgetown and a master’s degree from the University of Chicago and has many years of nonprofit experience in Washington DC and the San Francisco Bay Area. In this episode, Davi interviews Gopal Patel, the co-founder and director of Bhumi Global, an organization which works in environmental advocacy for the Hindu community and in doing so utilizes Hindu perspectives on sustainability issues. For the last decade, he has advised global interfaith and environmental initiatives and worked for the inclusion of faith voices in local and international policy. He is currently co-chair of the United Nations Multi-faith Advisory Council and the Advisory Board of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. In this episode, Davi interviews Sharon Lavigne, an environmental justice activist who leads RISE St. James, an organization dedicated to preventing expansion and worsening petrochemical plant pollution in the area of St. James, Louisiana from which she hails. In that role, she was the recipient of the 2021 Goldman Environmental Prize. In 2022, she received the Laetare Metal, the highest honor for American Catholics.
