Grant Martin is a 25-year-old Colorado native who loves the state he lives in. Gardening is in Kerry Poppe’s "roots." Her great-great grandfather was one of the gardeners for the Queen (of England, that is) at her summer residence Balmoral Castle in Scotland. Being of Scottish and Irish relatives, gardening was a way of life by keeping small kitchen gardens. She was bitten by the bug at an early age watching her Scottish mother's love of flower gardening. As Kerry grew, she was allowed to utilize parts of our yard for her own garden.The passion of growing and tending plants has been an integral part of Kerry’s life. She’s been gardening for over 40 years. It was important to not only garner hands on experience, but to maintain a sound knowledge of horticulture, so she joined the CSU Jefferson County Master Gardener Program in 1987. After a short sabbatical to raise her family and earn my bachelor's degree in education, she rejoined the Extension program in 2014. She has a certification in home landscape design, and created and taught several elementary and high school horticulture programs.Kerry achieved her Colorado Certified Nursery Professional (CCNP) certification in 2017. She completed her Irrigation Boot Camp Certification and SLM Certification. After eight years in the employ of Creek Side Garden Center & Nursery in Littleton, in October of 2020 Kerry started her own business, Streetside Garden Creations, LLC where she provides her clients with a range of services which may include Garden Design/Landscape, Installation and Maintenance. Married in 1978, Tim finished all the 14ers in 1983 and Carrie finished in 1987—after given birth to two children, Shaun and Sharon. In 1994, Tim & Carrie finished the 100 highest Colorado summits; by 1995, they had finished the 200 highest. Then in 2002, it was the 300 highest. At that point, they began to realize that finishing all the Colorado 13ers could become a reality. That goal was finished on August 3, 2013 on Boreas Mountain, accompanied by friends, family, and some noteworthy fellow-peakbaggers.Climbing Colorado 13ers has not been their only interest. From their Grand Junction home, Tim & Carrie have put in thousands of miles of road biking including some notable "century" rides both in and out of state.
