Design is, in part, about thinking that you can do better. Whether it is that you can make a system more efficient, that you can make a system safer or that you can go faster. Defining the problem can be a bit tricky here. This is mostly because it is more about over coming a self set challenge than overcoming a problem (why do you need to be safer or faster). As a skill challenging exercise such a thought exercise is well worth it but don't necessarily think that this is now the be-all and end-all of what man kind needs

New, mod or convert. What do you do? When your current car isnt performing do you buy a new one or modify it? Do you convert the lawnmower in the back yard to tear your across the highway at 140km/hr, open cockpit style? When your office desk is running out of space do you modify it (clean up the damn papers and tidy up), buy a new desk, convert it into the trash heap it basically is already lock up the room and forget about it or, as I was taught just pull out the drawers and put a desk extension on for more desk space (a modification). As usual these age old questions are not answered here but others are... I hope

If your mind went there from the title then steady on now, this is not that type of show. On the other hand if you yourself have wondered how you could keep wearing that designer jacket while at a water theme park, besides the obvious questions I have for you, then you may find this useful. Alternatively you may want to consider talking to someone (not a professional - just anyone. I know engineers are unsociable introverted sociopaths {just me?} but sometimes its actually good to bare through the mindless drivel spurting from someone else if only to reasonably have an excuse to explain why it is they are wrong). Also, I really think there are some good ideas in this podcast - it's almost sensible (for which we apologies and promise to return to ridiculuous in future episodes).
