If you listened to our 12/27/24 preview episode, you’ll remember that we discussed a headline about Disney pulling a transgender storyline from an upcoming Pixar streaming series set to air this February. The series, “Win or Lose,” revolves around a middle school co-ed softball team in the week leading up to their big championship game. The series was set to feature a transgender character. The character remains in the show, but the lines of dialogue referencing their gender identity have been removed. A Disney spokesperson stated, “When it comes to animated content for a younger audience, we recognize that many parents would prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children on their own terms and timeline.”
Chanel Stewart, the transgender actress who plays the character, told Deadline, “I was very disheartened. From the moment I got the script, I was excited to share my journey to help empower other trans youth. I knew this would be a very important conversation. Trans stories matter, and they deserve to be heard.” PERIOD.
This story really resonated with us, and we thought Chanel would be the perfect first guest interview! We are so excited to share this conversation with you. Chanel is amazing and wise beyond her years. We hope you enjoy this conversation as much as we did!
