During this episode Dennis asks Jodi to recap some of the best lessons learned from the first season of the Today is the Day Changemakers Podcast. In all 65 guests were interviewed during 59 episodes. The podcast is now currently downloaded in 25 countries and 325 cities around the world. That number increased since this podcast was recorded.

The tables turn and Jodi shares about some of her personal background. From a learning disability that she never realized she had, being jumped and attacked by a neighbor at the age of 13, dealing with her parent's divorce during a time when parents really did not divorce, and having to overcoming obstacles by not finishing her degree. All of the positions that she held in her career required a college degree, but yet she excelled in all of her roles because someone gave her a chance. Again, finding that one person that believes in you can truly be the catalyst for change in your life!

Welcome to episode 58 of the Today is the Day Changemakers Podcast.

This week my guest is Fred Wasiak, President and CEO of the Food Bank of South Jersey.

Fred and I talk about so many different topics and the messages and lessons are in abundance during this episode.

Some of the lessons that Fred shares include: When you are present in the presence of others, that is truly a present. Mindfulness, compassion and selflessness are three key ingredients for people who are hungry for leadership.

I could have talked with Fred for hours as his energy and the information he shares in itself is a motivator. I believe that Fred is the type of changemaker that truly doesn't even realize how much he positively impacts those around him.

Being a sufferer of OCD, and experiencing first hand the effects mental health has on people and families is the driver for Charlotte to want to support as many people as possible to not get to crisis point in their business.

WheresHome is a bespoke relocation company helping expats in the UAE, KSA & Oman relocate back to the UK. The company helps expats make a lifestyle change back home by supporting them with every element of their move, including finding their dream location, property, schools for their children, shipment of personal effects, and so much more. Another key part of their service is working with their clients to ensure they are emotionally prepared for their relocation by educating them on the change of lifestyle and potential realization that after many years away from family and friends, that their lives may have also moved on or changed. Also, that there may be an overall different social dynamic then what they may remember. 

Nadine exudes so much energy when she speaks about the work that she does through WheresHome. She is mother to three wonderful boys and is a running fanatic. 

It was so wonderful to also learn a little more about life in Dubai for those of us who do not live there.

Joanne provides professional copywriting, editing, proofreading, and marketing services to a wide range of businesses and individuals throughout the U.S. and abroad. A lifelong fan of anything having to do with the written word and a self-described compulsive editor and proofreader, she has an extensive career in advertising, marketing, journalism, and publishing, including serving as the editor-in-chief of five monthly magazines in New Jersey. In 2017, she decided to pursue her longtime dream of starting her own business and launched Colella Communications. In the past few years alone, she has edited books for several authors and created website content, marketing materials, presentations, video scripts, news articles, and other publicity for dozens of diverse clients.

A Brooklyn native who lived for more than 30 years in New Jersey before relocating to Arizona, Joanne is a member of numerous professional associations and organizations and an active volunteer in the community. She takes joy in creating excellent content for every client, but is particularly passionate about helping to share uplifting news about nonprofits and others who are paying it forward and making a positive difference in the world. On Monday, December 13, you will hear from my Nadine van Lierop  from the Netherlands. Nadine is Founder of The Orange Typewriter. She is a international copywriter helping businesses to communicate successfully abroad. She is also the host of the Special Needs Supermom Podcast. 

As a special needs supermom of an autistic wonder boy and super girl battling JIA and a military spouse, she decided to start her own company in 2016. This way she was in control of her own time, able to take care of her kids the way she wanted, while continuing to do what she loves most: writing.

Having a tribe of fellow special needs moms was something Nadine missed a lot. A tribe that knew how she felt, wouldn’t judge, to share info with and get advice from. This led to the birth of her second business the Special Needs Supermom Podcast. A place to empower fellow supermoms and offer a glass of wine for your mind. She launched her first digital products to empower fellow special needs moms Spring 2021.

If all of the above is not enough, Nadine also dedicates a lot of her time as a volunteer of the Dutch Juvenile Arthritis association, for which she is vice-president, focusing on research, marketing and communication.

Welcome to episode 52 of the Today is the Day Changemakers Podcast.

This week my guest is Tomas Alvarez III. Tomas is an award winning social entrepreneur and former nonprofit executive with 15+ years of experience leading social impact initiatives. He is the managing partner and strategy lead at Idea2Form. Tomas is a visionary thinker, cultural broker, and a transformational leader who has been recognized as an Ashoka Fellow, CNN Hero, NBC Latino Top 20 Innovator and Aspen Institute Scholar. His work has been featured by CNN, Forbes, the New York Times, amongst many other media outlets.

Unfortunately, Tomas lost his mom at a young age and he shares the ways in which he continues to share her message and legacy through his work. He also talks about how he sees his Dad as a hero being only 26 years old and a widower who encouraged him and his sister to reach for the stars. 

Tomas' career started in one direction as his father helped him choose what he should do when it came to his love for the arts. His Dad helped him choose graphic communications. However, that was just a starting point for Tomas. Listen in to hear how Tomas went on to became a social worker, started an organization dedicated to allowing kids to share their creativity through hip-hop dance, and then moved on to start an incredible social impact organization called Idea2Form. Our journey is not always linear.

Tomas also asks these questions for all of us to ponder, "what are the things that light you up? What are the things that bring joy and satisfaction that will allow you to be of service to others?" There is so much you get out of being in service of others. It is the reason why people stay in the non-profit sector. Knowing that you go to work everyday and have a positive impact that can help to bring about systemic change is truly fulfilling.

Something important that comes up during our conversation is giving ourselves permission to prioritize and understand the value of our work. Remember its not a sprint. It is a marathon. Tomas goes on to share that self-care and keeping our cup full is not being selfish. It is imperative!

Welcome to episode 51 of the Today is the Day Changemakers Podcast. This week I welcome my guest Vince Warnock who comes to us from beautiful New Zealand. He is an award-winning Business and Marketing Strategist, coach, author, and host of the Chasing the Insights podcast. Which is also the name of Vince's book. Vince is an  an ex-radio announcer with over 20 years in marketing.  He served as CMO at Cigna. After which, he founded multiple companies including the Chasing the Insights Academy where he empowers entrepreneurs and business owners to make sense of marketing and grow the business they have always dreamed of.

We discuss many important topics during this interview. From Vince going through a very difficult childhood and learning early on how to be a survivor, to encouraging others to market themselves for success, to an important topic that many leaders do not talk about, but experience -  imposter syndrome. Welcome to episode 50 of the Today is the Day Changemakers Podcast.

This week my guest is John Belizaire. John is the CEO of Soluna Computing.

John Belizaire’s parents escaped Haitian dictatorship and potential death before reuniting and coming to the United States. Since the age of 14 selling floppy discs in high school, John has had an entrepreneurial spirit and interest in technology. He was a recipient of the Intel Scholarship Program and he went on to receive a computer science and engineering degree from Cornell University.

During our conversation, John talks about a Professor that truly believed in a business idea that he shared. This is truly an example of when someone believes in you and inspires you, to stay on track because anything is possible! At the young age of 28 years old, John sold his first start-up company for $150 million. John has gone on to become a versatile CEO and serial entrepreneur who has successfully founded and scaled several multi-million dollar technology and fintech companies. He is currently the CEO of Soluna, a computing company helping to shape the future of renewable energy development.

Do you understand renewable energy? John takes a few minutes to really explain how to save energy and use stored energy in a productive way.

Although, John has a great success story to tell that may not be typical, he is so very inspiring and makes you think that you can do whatever it is you are passionate about.
