Vaccines against Covid-19 should be offered to all 16- and 17-year-olds without needing the consent of their parents in the UK, said the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation. 

Youngsters are one of the groups with the highest level of Covid infections, so having the 16- and 17-year-olds vaccinated could have a significant impact on dampening transmission. 

The WHO has called for a suspension on booster vaccines for Covid-19 until at least the end of September. 

The WHO chief said this pause would allow immunise at least 10% of the population in every country and would help fight a pandemic that has killed over 4.3 million people worldwide.
