   Friends of the Rosary, Today in the Gospel (Luke 8:1-3), we see people — the Twelve and several women disciples — following Jesus with practical love, supporting His mission with what they had. These women had been healed, freed, and restored, and now they support Him by accompanying Him. Grace received becomes generosity offered. “Jesus journeyed from one town and village to another, preaching and proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom of God. Accompanying him were the Twelve and some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, Joanna, the wife of Herod’s steward Chuza, Susanna, and many others who provided for them out of their resources.” In the first reading (1 Corinthians 15:12-20), we see that Christ’s resurrection is the foundation of our hope and faith, but not a symbol, a nice idea, or a comforting belief. St. Paul is very direct: if Christ has not been raised, Christian faith collapses. Because Jesus rose, sin and death do not get the final word. That means our prayers, sacrifices, repentance, and love are not empty. They are joined to a living Lord. “If there is no resurrection of the dead, then neither has Christ been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, then empty too is our preaching; empty, too, your faith.” “If for this life only we have hoped in Christ, we are the most pitiable people of all.” “But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep.” Ave Maria!    Friends of the Rosary, In the Gospel (Luke 4:38-44), Jesus heals Simon’s mother-in-law and many others, then continues His mission of preaching the Kingdom of God. Meanwhile, Saint Paul (1 Corinthians 3:1-9) warns against jealousy, rivalry, and attachment to human leaders rather than to God. One person plants, another waters, but God gives the growth. We must let God be the one who gives the growth. We can serve, help, pray, and work, but the fruit belongs to Him. Jesus heals, restores, and sends us beyond comfort into mission. As the Psalm reminds (Psalm 33:12-13, 14-15, 20-21), the Lord sees every heart and is the true help of His people. Prayer for tomorrow: Lord Jesus, heal what is weak in me and free me from jealousy or pride. Help me serve faithfully, trust You with the growth, and follow You wherever Your mission leads.    Friends of the Rosary, It's not possible to understand the mind of Christ by human reasoning. Saint Paul says (1 Corinthians 2:10b-16) that the things of the Divinity are understood through the Spirit. God’s Spirit helps us recognize what is true. Jesus’ word has real power to free, heal, and command the darkness to leave. Therefore, we ask to be filled with His Spirit. Helping us understand what comes from God, trusting His authority, and letting His word bring freedom and peace into our lives.    Friends of the Rosary, Today, September 23, the Catholic Church celebrates the Memorial of St. Pius of Pietrelcina (1887-1968), known as Padre Pio, a Capuchin Friar who, for fifty years at the monastery of San Giovanni Rotondo, was a much-sought-after spiritual advisor, confessor, and intercessor. The Italian priest himself became a pilgrimage site for both the pious and the curious. He would hear confessions by the hour, reportedly able to read the consciences of those who held back, able to bi-locate, levitate, and heal by touch. Yet despite such notoriety (and spiritual powers), this saint of the last century, whose life was devoted to the Eucharist and prayer, would often say, "I only want to be a poor friar who prays." On September 20, 1918, while praying before a cross, Padre Pio received the stigmata. He was the first priest ever to be so blessed. However, having this gift of the stigmata was very hard on his life — both physically and emotionally. In 1956, he founded the House for the Relief of Suffering, a hospital that serves 60,000 a year. Padre Pio died on September 23, 1968, at age 81. Today there are over 400,000 members worldwide in prayer groups begun by Padre Pio in the 1920s. Ave Maria! Come, Holy Spirit, come!    Friends of the Rosary, In the Gospel of Luke (8:19-21), Christ Jesus says that His true family is “those who hear the word of God and act on it.” The mother of Jesus and his brothers came to him but were unable to join him because of the crowd. He was told, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, and they wish to see you.” He said to them in reply, “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and act on it.” Tuesday’s message is simple and direct: faith is not just listening, agreeing, or admiring from a distance.
