When our life does get off track, the big question is this: How do we get back on track?

What is God’s will for my life? It’s one thing to be uncertain about the will of God It’s quite another

to know exactly what the will of God is and just to decide to refuse to do it. That was Jonah!

The book of Jonah is not primarily about Jonah running from God. It’s not about a great storm , it’s not even about a great fish, or a great revival at Nineveh. The key is what the story tells us about the nature of God.

Have you decided to make God and His Word the ultimate priority of your life? Not seek simply the hand of God to do something, but the heart of God in worship and devotion. We need to quit viewing God as an ATM or a health clinic and to seek His presence in our life. That is a part of His plan for renewal.

We live in a proud culture. The American dream is predicated somewhat on pride. I can achieve, I can be successful. We honor those who are self-reliant, resilient and strong. But Scripture tells us that God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. God could choose to humiliate us. In this message we learn that He did with Judah.

About a year ago this week, most of America went into lockdown as COVID-19 hit. Maybe this verse from Matthew 11:28 will impact you: Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Jesus says come. We have lots of words in the Bible. There’s words about God’s nature. About the justice of God. The righteousness and holiness of God. The judgement of God and the love of God. But the voice that rises above all others from the book of Genesis to the book of Revelation, is the invitation to come to God.

The Bible says the wage of sin is death and either we will pay that in eternity or we will accept that Christ has paid for it on the cross. The justice of God is that payment must be made. The Gospel is the good news that Jesus came to pay the penalty. It's a choice that all of us will make.
