Summary:
The Libertarian Party is the third largest political party in the United States but has failed to become a significant threat to the two major parties. The Mises Caucus believes the party needs a bolder, more principled message to take the next step. Their candidates won the chair and every voting board member seat at the Libertarian Party’s National Convention on Memorial Day weekend. Newly elected Chair Angela McCardle joins Tom to discuss the party’s new direction.
Guest Bio:

Summary:
The end of quantitative easing (QE) and modest interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve has already sent stock markets into correction territory. But this month, the Fed is supposed to begin quantitative tightening (QT). That could have dramatic effects on financial markets and the economy if Jerome Powell doesn’t reverse course.

Summary:
As with Covid, the Ukraine War, and inflation, everything the government and media tell Americans about the Second Amendment is false. It’s time to stop playing defense and go on offense to get the right to keep and bear arms protected the way the founders intended.

“And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms.” - Thomas Jefferson to William Stephens Smith, 13 November 1787
"Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops that can be, on any pretence, raised in the United States.” – Noah Webster, AN EXAMINATION INTO THE LEADINGPRINCIPLES OF THE FEDERAL CONSTITUTION

Summary:
It’s been two months since Pulitzer Prize winning New York Times reporter Matthew Rosenberg told Project Veritas that there were “a ton of FBI informants among the people who attacked the Capitol” on January 6th, 2021. One would think the Congressional Committee investigating the so-called “insurrection” would be interested in his statements. So far, they are not. Mario Balaban of Project Veritas joins Tom to discuss this reporting and the latest admissions from top insiders at Twitter.

Summary:
Reason and the record of history both lead us to the conclusion that protection of private property and free markets result in the best outcomes for society, including dramatic reductions in poverty. Yet, people are still inclined to be suspicious of the market and resistant to the idea that government interventions cause economic distortions, no matter how obvious the cause/effect relationships may be. Dr. Walter Block joins Tom to discuss the results of research Dr. Block has done into why the “anti-capitalist mentality” is so hard to overcome.
Guest Bio:
Walter Edward Block is an American Austrian School economist and anarcho-capitalist theorist. He currently holds the Harold E. Wirth Eminent Scholar Endowed Chair in Economics at the School of Business at Loyola University New Orleans and is a senior fellow of the non-profit think-tank Ludwig von Mises Institute in Auburn, Alabama.
Dr. Block earned his PhD in Economics at Columbia University. He is an author, editor, and co-editor of many books which include Defending the Undefendable; Lexicon of Economic Thought, Economic Freedom of the World 1975-1995; Rent Control: Myths and Realities; Discrimination, Affirmative Action, and Equal Opportunity; Theology, Third Word Development and Economic Justice; Man, Economy, and Liberty: Essays in Honor of Murray N. Rothbard; Religion, Economics, and Social Thought; and Economic Freedom: Toward a Theory of Measurement.
He has also written more than 500 articles for various non-refereed journals, magazines, and newspapers, and is a contributor to such journals as The Review of Austrian Economics, Journal of Libertarian Studies, The Journal of Labor Economics, Cultural Dynamics, and the Quarterly Journal of Austrian Economics. He is currently a professor and chair of economics, college of business administration, at Loyola University.

Summary:
Politicians mislead us by using terms like “working class” and “working families.” Don’t all families work? Rather than substantive differences between business owners and “workers,” every household is a going concern, selling a product. But the system is rigged against those household businesses that sell labor services to other businesses.

Summary:
The U.S. government is trying to pass a bill to send another $40 billion in military aid to Ukraine. The bill sailed through the House of Representatives and is expected to pass the Senate despite Senator Rand Paul’s procedural delay. While many have pointed out this money is being spent while Americans suffer with price inflation and shortages of baby formula and other essentials, no one is asking this question: Who is going to buy those $40 billion worth of U.S. government bonds?
