Do you connect emotionally with God's word? 
Some believers don't, and sometimes we don't even think we're supposed to connect emotionally with the Scripture. After all, God's word is true, and since what's true is true, we wouldn't want to let our emotions get in the way of faithful obedience. 
But while we don't want to be ruled by our emotions, I contend that if we never connect emotionally with the Word, we'll never truly get it into our innermost being.

It's my belief that many good Christians are defeated by sin and temptation because they know God's truth in their mind, but it has not yet reached their "innermost being." Put another way, they know the truth intellectually, and may very well believe it to be true, but the word of God hasn't found a place deep in their heart (i.e. their "innermost being").  Consequently, they know the right things to do, but down deep, it's not what they want to do.
