What's the most important thing a parent can do to ensure the success of their children? 
Get them a college education? That's probably the answer of most people, and it's definitely the answer of the folks giving campus tours to prospective students. But it's not the answer I would give. Mine comes from today's promise that your children will be like olive plants around your table.

The devil is real, and he's really dangerous. We dare not underestimate him. If ever there was a creature filled with hate, it is the devil. He's more evil than the worst villain in the most terrifying horror movie. I can't wait for him to be cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:10). But until then, he roams about like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8). How can we prevent him from devouring us?

It's estimated that Americans spend $2,300,000,000 annually to receive guidance from psychics! Some corporate clients pay up to $15,000 per month for psychic advice! That's crazy! But what's even crazier is how many believers don't seek and follow the God who promises to instruct, teach, and counsel us in the way we should go. After all, God is infinitely wiser than some psychic who hears from the devil. And He certainly loves us more than those inhabited by demonic spirits. To top it off, only He knows the future.
It only makes sense to seek direction from God when He promises to give it to us.

How was the serpent able to deceive Eve into eating the forbidden fruit?
She had everything, and yet Satan convinced her God was withholding something from her. If she could fall for Satan's lie, certainly we are vulnerable as well. So, may I ask you a soul-searching question: Do you believe God is withholding something from you that you rightfully ought to have?

I love this promise. It encourages me to pray big prayers... and then expect God to go even bigger. There's just one problem: sometimes I don't even see the original, smaller prayer answered, let alone the "far more abundantly beyond what we ask or think" answer. What should we do in such a situation?

Who wouldn't want to experience what Psalm 1:3 promises?
