Proverbs has much to say about instilling a "Proverbs work ethic" in your sons. It's one of the greatest gifts you can give them, for it will be quite difficult for them to succeed in life without it. This work ethic is typically described as being diligent. It is often contrasted with being lazy, and these people are called sluggards. Yuck!. What a terrible word! Let's work hard to ensure our sons are never called "sluggards."

King Solomon had immense wealth, but he taught his son that some things are more important than money. We would do well to follow that same advice and teach it to our sons. Whether it be in Solomon's day or our own, some people will do anything for money. But not us and not the boys we are raising to be godly men!

You can choose your friends, but you can't choose whether or not your friends will shape your life. They will. Show me who you choose to hang around with today, and I'll show you what you will be like in a couple of years.
