Melissa Nolan is a fabulous stage and film actress based in Dublin, Ireland. She has most recently been preparing for STRIKE by Tracey O'Flatherty. Will premiere in Samuel Beckett Theatre at Trinity College on 24-29th May.
She has been performing since she was a child. She went to a stage school called Diggs Lane, now called The National Performing Arts School. It is owned by Jill Doyle and Eamonn Farrell (Colin Farrell's brother). There, she took modern dance, singing, tap and speech and drama.
She holds an H.Dip in Theatre Studies from University College Dublin, a Licenciate Diploma in Speech & Drama from The Leinster School of Music & Drama, holds credits with the British Academy of Dramatic Combat Exam Certified - Broadsword & Unarmed Combat.
She is currently taking a Masters in Performance Drama in University College Dublin, looking at Enda Walsh's The Walworth Farce and Tom Murphy's Bailegangaire through the framework of carnivalesque and the physcology of narrative. This thesis will explore the dynamics and background of people who have suffered and have been forgotten as Ireland's social and ecomonic structures were developing; those that society labelled anonymous.

  • Tongue & Axe 21 - Rap about Rap
Host: Lucy Kannan with Lou Conrad
In this episode, Calvin Cockrell speaks of the changes in attitudes and messages presented throughout the last few decades of what he refers to as 'the Bastard Child' of the music industry, rap and hip-hop music. Merely an introduction to the many aspects of the culture, he also briefly touches on the murders of several artists that still remain unsolved. As underground as the language within the culture, Cockrell's expertise comes from his own experiences in radio, and later as a producer and performer in gospel and R&B...

Hosts: Lucy Kannan and Susan Kate with Lou Conrad
Tongue & Axe is proud to present the “Master of the Universe” Himself, Fiach Moriarty, who currently has the #1 CD in Tower Records in Dublin, Ireland! Known in the music world simply as “Fiach”, this Dubliner has even seen his debut CD, ‘So I’ become the #1 Album of the Week last week on RTÉ Radio 1! When Fiach is not making music or traveling to or from gigs, he catches some well-deserved shut-eye, and gets in the occasional game of Gaelic Football. Fluent in his country’s native tongue, Fiach has also written songs in Irish, and has some of those songs included on several the “Ceol” albums which feature Ireland’s best known musicians singing only in Irish. Playing his beautiful Takamine guitar, fondly named Byoncé, Fiach plays a lot of gigs as “special guest” to his friend, Declan O’Rourke. An extremely talented musician whose #1 love has always been music, Fiach will certainly capture your attention and your heart. Now that he is being introduced to the world through his first album, he is already working on a second one, which is sure to delight music lovers yet again. Ladies and gentlemen: FIACH.

  • Tongue & Axe 17 - This City of Takers
Hosts: Lucy Kannan and Susan Kate with Lou Conrad
Read much? They do- This is for the record: Joe would NOT prefer to play video games about rock climbing when he can actually go rock climbing... Are nannies really real?... Can IRA guys really go undercover as band front men- no wait, would it be the other way around? We are not wrong to think that sooner or later someone we know is going to create a beautiful instrumental piece to go with oh, say, some NASA footage or something cool like that... If that isn't enough, they have a cd coming out in just a few weeks! This City of Takers- if you don't want your heart stolen, lock it down!
