This month for our conversation on dinosaurs, we read Blood Adept by Glynn Stewart. Here is a brief description of the book:

Kithamar is a center of trade and wealth, an ancient city with a long, bloody history where countless thousands live and their stories unfold.

This is Alys’s.

When her brother is murdered, a petty thief from the slums of Longhill sets out to discover who killed him and why. But the more she discovers about him, the more she learns about herself, and the truths she finds are more dangerous than knives.

Swept up in an intrigue as deep as the roots of Kithamar, where the secrets of the lowest born can sometimes topple thrones, the story Alys chooses will have the power to change everything.

For the upcoming release of Dune: Part 2, the fellas keep the spice flowing with the spiciest movie of the ’90s. It’s Spice World, the Hard Day’s Night riff starring the Spice Girls and pretty much every other British person you can think of. Why is this a thing, innit?

Matthew Vaughn returns to the world of quippy spies, dumb action and obnoxious needle drops to deliver one of the biggest box office flops in recent memory. Argylle (note the double “L”s) stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Henry Cavill, Dua Lipa, John Cena, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, Samuel L. Jackson and a host of other overqualified actors that were surely elated to cash their oversized checks from Apple Inc. Nick, Nico and Adam are here to break down each frame of this cinematic abomination, in an effort to document and count EVERY. SINGLE. TWIST. And much like the studio after checking the box office returns, the numbers may shock you.

This Valentine’s Day, Why is This a Thing? cordially invites you to get NAILED! Once upon a time, in pre-Obamacare USA, there was a David O. Russell film called Nailed. The biting satire boasted a star-studded ensemble (including Jessica Biel, Jake Gyllenhaal and James Marsden) and a how-the-sausage-is-made script from political nepo-baby Kristin Gore. But a tumultuous production left the project incomplete and abandoned until 2015. That year, David O. Russell was coming off of three consecutive best picture nominations, Jake Gyllenhaal’s profile had risen even higher and a plunderous group of producers saw an opportunity to strike while the iron was hot. Thus, a shoddy cut of the film was cobbled together; and where Nailed once stood, Accidental Love rose from the ashes. Nick, Nico and Adam break down all this madness and look for some salvageable remains within the cinematic train wreck.

Not excited for the the Chiefs to battle the Niners? Skip this year’s Super Bowl and enjoy the inaugural Uwe Bowl! Just when you thought defrauding the German taxpayer wasn’t bad enough, we’re discussing yet another terrible film by grifter and cinematic hack Uwe Boll. Christian Slater, Tara Reid and Stephen Dorff fight… darkness(?) in the mid-2000s video game adaptation Alone in the Dark.

The guys cross a historically bad movie off the WiTaT to-do list with the most-reviewed 0% movie in the history of Rotten Tomatoes, Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever. Topics discussed include: the bafflingly inaccurate title, the lack of on-screen chemistry between Antonio Banderas and Lucy Liu, the physics of exploding cars, the logic behind a gun that fires backwards and, perhaps the greatest villain in all of action filmmaking, Robert Gant.
