After providing the latest updates on the Anselm/Noah Jupe feud, the hosts share their favorite and least favorite moments of the show, address the #EmmysSoWhite controversy, and ponder whether or not we should be done with awards shows.

Join the conversation and let us know what we got right (everything), what we got wrong (nothing), or share some of your favorite shows/performances from this awards season.

*Note: Given our special release this week, we will not be releasing an episode next week. Our next episode, a round up of our favorite movies and TV shows from the month of September, drops on Monday, October 4.

This week, Alex, Shantae, Dave, and Anselm discuss the most recent update to the infamous urban legend Candyman (2021). Written and directed by Nia DaCosta and co-written and produced by Jordan Peele, Candyman, like its 1992 predecessor, is the latest film to use the horror genre to explore the impact of racism on the Black experience in America.

The team discusses everything from how Candyman delivers on the horror thrills, to how it depicts violence against Black people, and even  whether Candyman is a super hero origin story. It's a deep, yet fun conversation that you don't want to miss, so check it out!

In this episode, originally recorded in Spring 2020, the Screentimers looks back at Season 3 of the dystopian anthology series Black Mirror's, which they argue is its best. Through topics like social media as capitalism, the new frontiers of blackmail, virtual reality, and more, David, Alex, Shantae, and Anselm dig into the ways that this series, while being set in the the near future, is much more a reflection of where we are now than where we are headed and how technology is steering us in that direction.
