Today on Too Opinionated we talk with John Hickman who graces the big screen in Warner Brothers’ latest action film, GUNNER (which premiered on August 16th) where he makes his mark alongside Luke Hemsworth and Morgan Freeman, starring in the role of ‘Sheriff Bob Lily.'
John's inspiring story of becoming an actor later in life (after 40) is truly remarkable, even leading him to get clean & sober after an on-set meeting with Al Pacino. In addition to Pacino, he has worked alongside some of Hollywood's biggest names including Ed Harris, Pierce Brosnan, James Franco, Bruce Willis, Peter Facinelli, Jon Keeyes, Nikki Glaser, and more to become one of Hollywood’s go-to character actors.
Hickman had always had an interest in acting, but it wasn’t until he won the opportunity to play a part in “True Blood” that he realized it was the path for him. His first scene on the show turned into several more, and soon he was a part of Joe Manganiello’s “wolf pack” (which led to the thrilling opportunity to work with live wolves in Season Five ). Roles on CW’s “The Originals" and “The Vampire Diaries, ” and more than 40 television series and films followed. See his roles on IMDB HERE.
Even though his acting career was taking off, he was secretly battling an alcohol addiction. After filming four movies back-to-back, John wound up in the hospital due to his drinking. While detoxing on his next set, Al Pacino pulled him aside one day and told him he needed to get better. John took that life-changing advice to heart and went to rehab, returning later to finish the film.
Besides acting, John is dedicated to philanthropy. In 2011, he established the John Herman Hickman Foundation to provide aid to victims of natural disasters and provide scholarships to the children of Peco Foods employees. His charitable efforts also extend to The West Alabama Humane Society and other organizations.

Sarah Alexandra Marks was born in Essex, England. She trained as a dancer going on to perform at prestigious venues, most notably the The Royal Opera House. She transitioned to screen acting and quickly began racking up an impressive list of film credits with leading roles in Howard J Ford’s ‘Escape’ & ‘River of Blood’.
Other leading roles include ‘Witch’, ‘The Caller’ & ‘The Manor of Darkness’. Sarah is attached to ‘The Hag’ which is currently in development.
"Working on Escape, more specifically with Howard J Ford was a breathe of fresh air - he is a wonderful director to work with, every day, every scene, every moment carries meaning and passion. Collaborating with him on this film reinvigorated me as an artist and performer.
With the trust of Howard I was able to explore my character with free reign and ease. I truly believe this helped me be present in each moment both on and off camera. The cast and crew were phenomenally hard working and a pleasure to unwind with after days in the sand. The film captures shots of the desert that would make Sergio Leone fans happy and those who love full blown action are in for a treat".

Emma Driver, a burgeoning queer artist and cancer survivor, released her powerful new single, "Try Hard," on September 4th. This first release marks a significant step in her healing journey, transforming insecurities into acceptance and aiming to serve as a guiding light for others facing similar struggles.
"What a nightmare to be perceived" are lyrics Emma penned in 2021 before her cancer diagnosis. However, these words resonated more deeply as she lost her hair to
chemotherapy and became unrecognizable even to herself. Confronting mortality at 27, she found solace in her music once again, transforming fears and shame into art that eased her pain and revealed an undiscovered strength.
Emerging from treatment in remission nearly three years after her last release under a different name, Emma felt a rapacious urgency to release music. Returning to New York City, she collaborated with the renowned production duo SUPR8, known for their work with Lolo Zouai, Bradley Simpson, and Princess Nokia. This collaboration resulted in her upcoming four-song EP, "Ashamed To Admit This."
"Try Hard" is an anthemic testimony for those who have forsaken happiness in pursuit of acceptance. Evoking the teen angst of Avril Lavigne and Olivia Rodrigo, coupled with a mature, alternative sound that acknowledges the desire to be the "cool kid" while delivering the realization that weighing others' opinions too dearly is a barrier to personal growth.

Dr. John Brady is a forensic psychologist who for 25 years has spent hours analyzing why individuals commit heinous crimes, providing testimony in numerous criminal cases, and writing six books taken directly from his professional clinical work and court records.
Having worked with some of the nation’s top defense attorneys, prosecutors, private investigators, judges and even perpetrators themselves, Dr. Brady holds that powerbrokers in some of the most prosperous communities often work to hide the evil lurking within some of the biggest work hubs, endangering the public by withholding information.
Dr. Brady, who has written about why wealthy women shoplift to why individuals commit horrific mass-murders, can explain the step-by-step journey taken in the perpetrators’ unconscious journey into darkness.
Dr. Brady’s most recent book is a psychological re-examination of Sirhan Sirhan, the convicted murderer of Robert F. Kennedy. With extensive detail, Dr. Brady uses a criminal mind-tracking method to map out the offender’s past and the likelihood of their future criminal activity. In the case of Sirhan, Dr. Brady shows why advances in psychiatric medicine may have convinced a jury to convict Sirhan of second-degree murder, instead of a conviction that held the death penalty.
