On this episode, Dr. Jacob Dent, a practicing dentist of 16 years discusses how his son’s diagnosis of autism sparked his love for learning about the condition and motivated him to convert his office into a sensory-friendly office to aid him in treating children and adults with special needs. He explains the tremendous demand for dentists who are willing to work with special needs individuals. Dr. Dent also provides little known facts that could help us understand what causes behavioral issues and how to overcome them. -The first question was would you recommend your child go to dental school knowing how expensive it has become.

- Who’s fault is it that dentists aren’t getting paid what they should for the work they are doing?

-Dental therapists have also started to appear in the rural parts of America, and so we discussed if the dental therapist is good or bad for dentistry.

-Are dentists more focused on paying their student loans and living a lavish lifestyle instead of doing what is best for their patients?

-Do we believe that corporate dentistry is taking over the dental field?

-We discuss the issue with overcharging or over-treating patients in some dental corporations and/or private practices. Should patients get second opinions for all their treatment plans?

On this episode, I have Mrs. Hillary teears a registered dental hygienist to answer all your oral hygiene questions. We discuss what type of floss she recommends and to whom. The age-old question of when to floss before or after brushing, and you will be surprised at what the research show is most effective. She also talks about who should be using the water pik and why. She personally tests out the quip electric toothbrush and gives her honest, unfiltered review of the product and as the title suggest, she hates it but you will be surprised to find out why. Last but not least, she explains what problems and concerns she sees in the dental hygiene field and explains why your hygienist may not have enough time to give you the proper cleaning you paid for. On this episode, I talk to Mr. Amin Soolari, a fourth-year dental student. He explains his journey through dental school, what each year has to offer the students and how to overcome the challenges of each year. Mr. Soolari also goes to tell the story of how he found dentistry and gave up this childhood dream of being an astronaut. He will inspire any student who may have been told they are not good enough for dental school or should just give up on applying to dental school. He explains how he refused to take "no" for an answer and how that was the best decision he ever made. He is now in the process of applying for an oral surgery residency, so he explains to us how the new process works and what to expect as you go through applying for specialty training. Enjoy.

On this episode, I had the pleasure of talking to Dr. Sanaz Vahid a periodontist with a vision for the field of dentistry. She along with her colleagues founded "women of the world of dentistry" (WOW dentistry). As she describes it, it is an all-inclusive organization aimed at educating and empowering every woman in the field of dentistry from the assistant to the dentist. I believe this organization is absolutely needed at this time in dentistry, especially since the ratio of women and men graduating from dental schools is even. In this episode, I talk to Dr. Sonya Kumar who goes through her dental journey. After graduating from dental school; Dr. Kumar goes into a GPR (general practice residency) and finds her first job working in a Medicaid office owned by a dentist who only cares about how many kids she sees and nothing about the quality of care. She leaves that office just to find herself in a corporate setting that now believes she should sell dentistry and if she isn't productive, it's her fault. Dr. Kumar opens up about her experience in all facets of dentistry and what the pitfalls are working for corporate and private practice. On this episode, we talk to Dr. Hamza Gaj about this experience in the corporate dentistry vs private practice world. He explains how he felt the recruiters weren't always honest with dental students. They promised the world to the students only to find out later, what the recruiters promised was not at all true. Dr. Gaj also felt his experience was one of disrespect for him as the dentist and was treated not as a doctor but an employee on the same level as the assistants.
