In light of the recent discussions within the Latinx community regarding Black Lives Matter, @destinythinks & @monicaconnects teamed up with @mismodest to have a candid conversation about race, our role as Latinas in the Black Lives Matter movement and beyond, and about the ways our immigrant experiences intersect with those of Black Americans in this country. Together we explore our Blackness, get a history lesson (read: gems) by @mismodest, and provide tangible tips for you to be a part of the solution rather than a perpetuant of the problem. We hope our conversation empowers you to reflect, take action, and practice empathy for everyone around you while we make it through these challenging times! The climb continues...
The ladies are joined by @mypeachfuzzblog founder, @shamitriskirby who is shining a light on Adenomyosis, a condition that affects one in ten women across the country and causes immense discomfort (which we spend the entire episode trying to pronounce correctly). Throughout the episode we discuss women’s health and disparities, getting our periods, tampons vs pads, convincing our Mamis to stop telling the entire world, and caring for the overall health of our bodies. Our co-host Shamitris shares her eye-opening experiences with adenomyosis and highlights the unfortunate gap of knowledge when it comes to women’s issues. We are clearly losing it during this quarantine, and we’re pretty sure you are too, so take a break and listen to @destinythinks & @monicaconnects chat all things stay-at-home with our homemade sound effects. We are feeling extra lucky to be joined by our amazing co-host, long time friend, and Education Extraordinaire Kaity Modesto (@mismodest) for an insightful conversation on managing our emotions during quarantine, the importance of filling out the census, and identifying our race as Hispanic and Latina women. Our greatest hope is that this episode brings you a spark of joy during these unprecedented times. Check out our instagram page for mentions, resources + quotes from this episode! This #coronavirus pandemic only means one thing... you grab your dranks and have a virtual girls night! On this episode, @destinythinks and @monicaconnects are joined by their friends and phenomenal healing women @jazminheals and @julietavibes for a candid conversation about uncovering passion and exploring the world of healing. If you can get past the giggles and Monica's tequila outbursts, you'll gain great insight on how to uncover your passion, no matter what is is! Our guests tell us how they reframe fear, put their big girl pantys on to sell their services, and most importantly, how they look back to their families for guidance on moving forward in their passions. Tune in to learn more!
