Before it gets too cold, a Potsdam artist is hoping to finish a series of outdoor small-scale murals around the village. Sara Lynch says she wants to add a bit of fun and whimsical artistic details to public spaces - park benches, street signs and brick walls. Her goal is to let viewers know that art should be accessible in even unexpected places.
Sara Lynch says her mural designs range in size from just a few inches to a few yards in height. Earlier this month, she was painting tomatoes and sweet peas on a wooden street sign along a busy intersection. The village has plans to replace the wooden posts with metal signs, but Lynch says that hasn't deterred her public art project.
Todd Moe caught up with Lynch to find out more about her one-woman mission to add some color to downtown Potsdam.
