All this rain has been raising the levels of rivers and streams temporarily above normal for late July, but most of the Adirondack Park was in a moderate drought when the rain began, so water crossings shouldn�t be much of a problem this weekend.

Henry Liebers, of Schenectady, NY, has been spending his summers in the Adirondacks since he was a little boy. He's now working a job that he describes as a dream come true: Hut Master for Johns Brook Lodge in the High Peaks region. Owned by the Adirondack Mountain Club, the lodge has been hosting visitors since 1925.

"Old as the hills" is a relative term. A newly formed group is reaching out to public worker union members in New York, informing them of their rights - under the recently decided U.S. Supreme Court Janus case - to opt out of their unions. But union leaders say the organization is a front group for anti-union billionaires.

After sitting vacant for four years, the former Chateaugay Correctional Facility, a state prison in northern Franklin County, sold at a public auction yesterday. A Canadian-owned company called Adar Investment Incorporated bought the property for $600,000. State officials say the company plans to convert the facility into a Jewish summer camp.
