The disabilities community in Plattsburgh is fighting a proposal to end paratransit buses in the city. The service runs by appointment and door-to-door, like taxis for people with wheelchairs and other special needs. It takes them to work, medical appointments, or wherever they want to go.Clinton County officials say the service is too expensive and they want to make it easier for people with disabilities to use the regular bus system, but many aren’t on board with that idea.

Supporters of a constitutional convention in New York say the special assembly deserves prominent placement on the November ballot. Every twenty years, New Yorkers have the chance to vote on whether or not the state should hold a constitutional convention. If it’s approved, delegates are elected from each state Senate district, and meet to decide on potential changes to the state’s constitution. Opponents say holding a convention is too risky, and that the state should skip it.
