When indiscipline at Roderick International School, Mussoorie, becomes an alarming issue for members of the board, educators, and parents alike, CEO Jacob Roderick decides to bring in an experimental teacher, Roma Mathur, against the wishes of the board of directors to curb the growing aggression, hostility, and vandalism.
Will someone like Roma Mathur, written off by her own teachers as a "moron" and "good for nothing", be able to inspire learning in students who loath studying and sitting in classrooms? Will this maverick academic, who had been extremely mischievous as a student herself, be able to instill values and discipline in her students? Is there any place for someone as unconventional as Roma Mathur among the esteemed and sophisticated faculty at the prestigious International School? Has Jacob Roderick made a grave mistake in recruiting someone who plays drums, watches Tom and Jerry beat up goons in the pub, and rides a sports bike, over the gold-medalist, experienced teachers who had applied? What is it the school needs at this desperate hour?
It is time for the students of RIS to take a call on what kind of teachers they need in their classrooms?

Is this a must read? Definitely!
This is, by far, the best book i have ever read! It was a joy reading this book. There is so much to learn and so much to relate to in it. The kids of this generation have new problems to face and this book can tell you every thing about it and more importantly, how to solve them. The art of teaching is more than just explaining a book to a bunch of kids. It is where students and teachers build their bond and learn so much from each other. The teacher has to be their best friend and it is said that if you learn from a friend, so much more than textual knowledge can be gained. That can be accomplished by a true teacher who understands the pressure kids go through these days and help them enjoy their childhood. How is that possible? the book explains it all.
Learning is not for the 'now', it is for 'forever'. Teachers and students have a connection no one else has and this book tells you all about it. When you read his book, thoughts like "hey, that happened to me!" or "how true" always come.
Teachers also go through a lot of pressure and it takes talent to master the art of teaching. But, teachers become teachers by choice, not by chance. There have several books that try and explain student and teacher life, but, according to me, none have surpassed the ' WANTED BACK- BENCHER AND LAST -RANKER TEACHER'.
The teaching experience of Roma, the protagonist of this story, has been a wonderful learning experience for her, her fellow teachers and her students. Though this story is fiction, the incidents and life experiences happen in each student's life and this could teach parents, students and teachers them. The kindness, care, right attitude to handle a class and so much more has been described in the book and surely, if you want to be a teacher yourself, you cannot miss reading this book!
I was like nothing great might be some book
Kavita ma'am herself told me about this book. I was like nothing great might be some book. I started reading it. Being a teen facing such problems and solving them is a challenge. It is very easy for all teens to connect to this book.
