Topical Resort

Back in the Groove has just forced itself into the grooves of your console or PC, so we should probably look back on the highs and lows of the franchise that came before it. Join us for talk of how they got redesigning a character right and how YOU think they redesigned another SEGA character wrong. Also, please check out this episode's corresponding blogpost on the RadioSEGA website for full context behind some conversations.

A few weeks after the closure of Nintendo's Wii Shop Channel, ViPER takes a look at an ever growing issue within the video game industry: Abandonware. As we head towards a digital only future, we'll be losing more and more games when those ever so important servers shut down, but what games have we already lost in recent years?

In an attempt to breathe some much needed musical variation into this year's episodes, we're banning Sonic, Yu Suzuki and everything overplayed for one night only! You won't be hearing deepcut obscure picks, but we hope that you appreciate the breath of fresh air! Aside from that, it's a fairly standard semi off-topic episode!

Sonic 3 turns 25 tomorrow as of uploading, so we should probably celebrate by not repeating the same tracks we've heard a gazillion times. Instead, we should play tracks with the same melodies but with different instruments and made by someone on the internet. That sounds much better.

The finale of Month of the Fan is here, and we're throwing it over to one of the many requests by jstarmax. Admittedly it's a topic that crosses over with a lot of others that we've done recently, but it's still a request by you guys. Enough chat, let's dedicate an episode to the gaming genius known as Tetsuya Mizuguchi! Be sure to get yourself into a trance before listening.

The Month of the Listener is going "strong" on the Resort, so the next episode in the line is a request by S_Mania999 and he wants us to look at the history behind the composers of NiGHTS! Strap yourself in for a retrospective featuring 3 SEGA greats!

The end of the year is upon us, so how else should we celebrate but with another yearly news roundu.... don't fall asleep on me yet, because we're also going to be reading YOUR picks for your favourite episode of 2018. Strap in, because it's gonna be a long one.

It's time to focus on the great SEGA studio with the unfortunate acronymn. Let's put that aside though as we jam to some great games such as Comix Zone, Sonic 2 and the best Christmas game ever released: Die Hard Arcade.

Can you believe that WinterFest 2018 is already upon us? Well it is, so the non-believers can get out. Join us for banter, wintery tunes, now closed prize giveaways and a whole load of H! You might even get turned on...

The Topical Resort moved to a Thursday this week, and chao... I mean not a lot really ensued! The usual crazy chat was calmer than usual due to the different slot, but one thing that wasn't different was the level of topicality displayed in this episode. Be sure to pick up your copy of Mega Drive Classics this weekend, as we all know that's the most important thing coming out on the 7th.............
