In 1999, Henan Farmer Zhao Zuohai had a violent argument with a neighbour. The neighbour would disappear shortly after, and a headless corpse would eventually be found in a well, leading authorities to focus their attention onto Zhao. What followed would be years of torture, abuse, and judgment that later events would reveal, were for a murder that never even happened.
