Today's conversation is with Kelly Kane

Kelly Kane studied Pilates with Romana Krazanaska & Hila Paldi. Completing her certification with The Pilates Institute.  She has studied, BodyMind Centering, Continuum Movement, Iyengar Yoga, and has done extensive Crossfit training.  She also attended Massage School at the Florida School of Massage. 

Kelly’s manual therapy repertoire includes Structural Integration, CranioSacral Therapy and Visceral Manipulation.  She further developed her perceptual skills through three years of human cadaver dissection. 

In 1999 Kelly opened the Kane School of Core Integration, in New York City.  The teacher training programs at The Kane School are singular in their emphasis on developing teacher’s anatomical knowledge and palpatory skills while exacting an understanding of the classic Pilates repertory.

Kelly is currently developing a program for women in their "Prime Time" to optimize their health towards manifesting a legacy for themselves, their families and future generations.  Post menopausal women are an untapped national treasure.  Kelly's mission is to help women understand their unique biology after fertility towards optimizing well being, strength and power.  

In today's conversation we spoke about getting outside for health benefits during covid, winters in Vermont, her pilates studio and training program, how she got into this field, trauma and polyvagal, jade eggs, motherhood on and in the body, menopause, RADIANCE, beauty of self-acceptance/self love and more....

For this talk we were all a bit all over the place in terms of conversation and jumping off points and I did my best to edit it in as free flowing a way as possible.  This is a real and raw talk and there are a few times words not meant for underage people will appear.

Today's conversation is with Daniel Simpson 

Daniel is the author of The Truth of Yoga, a comprehensive guide to yoga history and philosophy. His approach is engaging and fun, making scholarly knowledge accessible and relevant to modern practitioners. Daniel holds a master's degree in yoga studies – from SOAS, University of London – and teaches courses at the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies, on yoga teacher trainings, and online. 

In today's conversation we spoke about the history of yoga, the historical appropriations through the age of various yogas, classical yoga as embodied practice, similar frameworks of phenomenology in yoga and rolfing, lineages and traditions, as well as excerpts from his wonderful new book and why "Truth Of Yoga" is a great place between academia and laymanship.

Today's Conversation is with Jeffrey Burch.

A Certified Advanced Rolfer™, Jeffrey has extensively studied and integrated into his Hands-On Therapies both Cranial Manipulation and Visceral Manipulation. He has developed groundbreaking new joint mobilization methods.Jeffrey Burch received a BA in biology from the University of Oregon in 1975, after which he trained at The Dr. Ida Rolf Institute® in Boulder, Colorado, receiving his Certification as a Rolfer in 1977.He first practiced Rolfing® Structural Integration in London, and later in Seattle and Honolulu before returning to his native Eugene, Oregon, in 1989. At the time he was in London there were only a half dozen Rolfers in Europe. He accepted invitations to Rolf groups of people in Oslo, Stockholm, Trondheim, and Tehran. He now lives in Eugene Oregon offers continuing education classes. Jeffrey Burch received his Rolfing Advanced Certification in 1990, after which he again began studying at the University of Oregon where he received a second BA in Psychology in 1993 and a Master of Science in Counseling in 1995.

In today's conversation we spoke about working within a COVID Era, Jeff's history with the work, being one of the first Rolfer's in Europe, working multiculturally, the history of Osteopathy, rolfing without deep pressure, and some of the different classes and approaches he teaches.

Today we’re lucky to be in conversation with Neal Powers. Neal is a former president of the Rolf Institute, senior faculty for the guild, and currently teaching for the European guild. Neal has been Rolfing since the 70s at Esalen and a direct student of Dr Rolf. 

Our talk with Neal was so delightful as he is a down to earth, grounded individual with a great sense of humor, deeply contemplative and incredibly humble.  This made for easy yet deep conversations.

Today's Conversation is with the amazing and lovable Gil Hedley

Gil Hedley, Ph.D., earned his doctorate in theological ethics from the Divinity School of the University of Chicago, and also became a Certified Rolfer at the Rolf Institute in Boulder, CO, back in the early '90s. His combined interests and training has supported his personal exploration of the human body and led him to develop an integral approach to the study of human anatomy. Through hands-on human dissections courses in the laboratory and lecture presentations, he has encouraged thousands of fellow "somanauts" to appreciate, explore and embody the wonders of human form. He has published a number of books, as well as produced The Integral Anatomy Series, a set of four feature-length videos documenting his whole body, layer-by-layer approach through on-camera dissection.

Kirstin is a Board Certified Structural Integrator who specializes in freeing myofascial restriction of nerves and vasculature, with the goal of helping clients to enjoy moving with greater comfort, ease, and agility. Her gentle and specific work can resolve longstanding issues with posture and function. She has studied in depth with several masters, and has a deep appreciation of the science and art of manual therapy. Kirstin is a Certified Teacher of Anatomy Trains Structural Integration and she offers advanced training for manual therapists and structural integrators through her Anatomy Trains supported courses in Neurovascular Release.

Today we chat about her path that brought her to where she is so far, what is neurovascular work and why is it so important and she shares a few examples of the work.

Today's Conversation is with Dr Biko Mandela Gray.

Dr. Gray’s work operates at the nexus and interplay between continental philosophy of religion and theories and methods in African American religion. His research is primarily on the connection between race, subjectivity, religion, and embodiment, exploring how these four categories play on one another in the concrete space of human experience. He also is interested in the religious implications of social justice movements. He is currently working on a book project that explores how contemporary racial justice movements, like Blacklivesmatter, demonstrate new ways of theorizing the connection between embodiment, religion, and subjectivity.
